Inanna and Gilgamesh - The Struggle for the Sacred Tree - Sumerian Mythology
In Sumerian mythology, Inanna plants a sacred huluppu tree on the banks of the Euphrates River, intending to make it into a throne and a bed. Over time, creatures inhabit it: a serpent in its roots, a bird in its canopy, and Lilith in its trunk. Inanna seeks help, and Gilgamesh responds to the call. He drives out the intruders, cuts down the tree, and offers its wood to Inanna, helping her achieve her purpose with the sacred tree.
