Before we moved into the Airstream, Daniel and I were always the type of couple that would say, “we love to hike!” But, when the weekend rolled around, we’d never seek one out. Maybe it was because we were living in Florida, and most Florida hikes are more like nature walks. 🤣

But, since we’ve been living the camping life, we’ve been making a much more concerted effort to get out into nature and take on a hike or two.

The only crazy part about that is like all things in life, we just dive in for the most challenging hikes without really having the experience to do them - at least to do them well. 🤣

This incredible hike at Bernheim Forest, just outside of Louisville, Kentucky, was listed as “difficult” and 13 to 14 miles. Not to mention, you actually needed basic navigation skills - which we do not have.

That being said, no great story ever started with being totally prepared. Sometimes you just have to take a risk and go all in. There will likely be bumps and bruises, but you’ll definitely have a story to tell.

_ 🗺️ ABOUT WANDERLOCAL ________________________

Hello, friends! We're Lauren and Daniel. For nearly a decade, we chased the American dream of owning our own business. We built a successful communications agency and had "it all" but were tired, overworked, and unfulfilled.

After watching a documentary on minimalism in January 2019, we sold everything, except our company, and took off to travel the world!

But after a year and a half of travel, we got stuck in Morocco and had to take a US rescue flight home during COVID-19. So, needless to say, we’re pretty excited to stay on American soil for a while.

We've always been passionate about exploring local while we travel, but small businesses need all of us to shop local now more than ever, and we want to inspire people to do just that.

We're on a mission to visit all 50 states in 365 days while shopping 100% American-made, all in an Airstream.

It's our hope by sharing our adventures and tips for shopping locally, you will be inspired to do the same - creating your own incredible memories in our beautiful country while you #wanderlocal.
