For the first time in more than 20 years, the regulations that govern the operations of the nation’s Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs) have been updated. In an effort to create a more respectful, person-centered approach to treating people who have opioid use disorder – in the hopes that more lives can be saved – SAMHSA has produced and published new explanatory videos for helping to explain those regulatory changes.

These videos aim to provide an overview of the major changes the federal government made to 42 CFR Part 8, the regulations that set standards for care provided by OTPs to people who have opioid use disorder. Learn more: SAMHSA.gov/Part8

In part ten of our video series on 42 CFR Part 8, Dr. Yngvild Olsen, director of the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment at SAMHSA, discusses documentation standards for Opioid Treatment Programs, or OTPs, in the revised 42 CFR Part 8 rule.
