This week Rob and Ame travel back to the uk and leave Charlotte with all 3 dogs on her own..
Well, they left me.
Love you darling.
Will do.
See you in a week and have fun with the dogs.
Too hot!
Are you going to say goodbye to your dog?
Lily you coming out?
My little Coco.
Poor Charlotte staying here.
All on her own.
Well it could be worse.
I'm quite jealous to be honest.
You've got a lovely van journey with your dad.
Yay!
And I'll be here.
Living my best life.
Love you love.
Love you.
Love you doggies.
You don't even like me.
And I'm on my own.
To be honest I was a bit sadder than I thought I'd be.
But yeah, I'm missing them both right now.
And I know they've got a really horrible long journey to do.
So, kind of got the better end of the deal.
But I'm not seeing my dad and that.
But, you know.
I'm here with the dogs.
I'm doing my job.
And my dad will be pleased to see me anyway.
Well I'm Rob.
But yeah, I'm going to miss them.
And then worry about them on the road.
But there you go.
Catch up with you later.
Alright, well just left Charlotte and we're now on the road.
It's steaming hot.
We have no air conditioning.
Charlotte has kind of air conditioning.
But lots of shade.
Which is really nice for the dog.
Don't know how she's going to fare without us.
I'm sure she's going to absolutely love it.
She's going to thrive without us.
She's going to have the time of her life without us too.
Especially you.
Oh thanks.
A little notification saying Gigi was left behind.
Just came up and find my phone.
Because I have an air tag on her.
And it just says Gigi is left behind.
That is horrible.
Okay, a bit of an improvement.
What do you reckon?
Take Jerome off.
Jerome has actually come to life.
He's come alive.
Oh.
He needed about 10 seconds to warm up.
So within the first 5 minutes of travelling,
you're already thrown in to keep me out of the van.
Let's take this off. It's far too hot.
It's far too hot.
But no, we have got a mammoth
journey to undertake.
We've got some provisions which is good.
And I have my daughter
for entertainment.
She is quite a funny
little lass to be travelling with.
Yeah, I'm an excellent travel buddy.
Look at me. I'm just driving.
And it's really nice having you film.
This would be so easy with someone else.
I know.
Jerome doesn't really cut it.
Jerome's not the one, you know.
Mind you, it's a little bit more jiggery
because I'm hand-holding this at the moment.
And Ami's driving.
Honest to God, Ami's driving.
It's just...
You're so jerky.
I'm surprised that Gigi's not...
Well, in fact, she does.
I'm not a jerky driver.
I reckon the reason why she shits herself so much
is because of you.
Because you are driving.
That's why she pukes up on you.
Yesterday, you were like,
Wow, you're such a good driver.
You drive this thing like it's a car.
You just whip it back into the space so easy.
Yeah, you are. But you're still jerky with it.
It's just like...
That's because I like to drive with this.
Seriously,
I think she is an incredible driver.
And she throws this van around.
She reverses like a pro.
You would think she was driving her Fiat 500.
You really would.
Anyway, we'll catch you up further down the line.
I'm getting absolutely fried.
Because the sun is on my side the whole way.
I'm going to end up looking like a lobster
by the time I get back to the UK.
I'm fine.
Yes, you're fine.
I'm not.
And also,
I've listened to the 60s music
and Ami's old school
for the last 5 hours.
And it's now time
for me to listen to
my old school.
Wow!
That's so awesome!
Okay, well...
Yes, what time now?
6... 5...
5.09
And yeah,
it's been a bit of a slog, hasn't it?
So we left at 2 o'clock
and we've finally
got here at 5 o'clock
for the following morning.
And Charlotte will still be
in the land of Nod, no doubt.
She will still be
fast asleep with the dogs.
Yes, it is windy.
The weather has changed.
I'm actually wearing a pullover.
I was boiling when I got into this van.
Now I'm freezing.
But anyway, we're just going to go and see
if there's a coffee available here.
And we're at the terminal
so I need to go to bed.
I'm knackered.
It's so cold.
I'll man up.
You man up.
I'm cold, bitch.
Now, remember Ami,
we are on
what side of the road?
Correct.
It's just so wrong.
How's that for an aesthetic of a coffee?
Alright, well, gotta say
that Indian was
absolutely marvellous. It's been a whole
year since we've had a
korma that good.
Charlotte, I'm afraid you're going to have to try
and find a recipe for a bit of
chicken korma because
we cannot go another year
without
korma in our lives. But anyway,
we're back in the UK
and
I've had a good sleep today
because it was a long, long journey.
I only managed an hour and a half sleep
which is not very good.
Not when you're knocking 50 anyway.
Anyway, I'm really missing Charlotte.
I'm really missing my dogs as well.
I know she's really missing us. We've had
a few video calls and she's
enjoying van life where she is at the
moment, so that's pretty good.
Having great fun taking
three dogs for a walk.
Let's see what she's been getting up to, shall we?
Well, they're all settled having their dinner
so I'm going to prepare
mine. Not sure what I'm going to have. I think I'm just going to have some salad
things. It's too hot.
Rob's alright on his seat.
It's the right height
for my windmill to face me.
There you go. Dinner for one.
It's all leftovers from the fridge.
To be fair, the last few days I've
just been eating baguette,
half boiled egg, tomatoes, things like that
and just easy things.
But today
I thought I would push the boat out
and empty the fridge.
Okay, so just got a really
nice haul of food.
So come back and
enjoy.
You're in charge of cakes.
You kind of destroyed it on the cakes.
Yeah, I bought loads of cakes.
So we're just going to
go back and enjoy this lot.
And yeah.
I can't wait.
It's been a year since we've had
some of this food
that we absolutely love.
So we'll show you
the unboxing when we get back.
Finding the key.
She always loses
the key.
She can never find the key.
It's actually in the right compartment.
Oh, she found the key.
Congratulations.
Coffee and walnut cake.
Oh, the joys
of having an oven. My God.
This is a whole new revelation.
Okay, right.
Well, it's been a great time coming along
to Pam's cafe.
Had
some lovely homemade sausage rolls,
a lovely piece
of coffee and walnut cake,
and a great fry-up this morning.
But it's time for us to go.
And
I thought we'd just say one last thing
about my mum.
And here she is.
This is my mum.
So you can stand up now.
Can you stand up, mum?
Stand up.
So this is mum.
Actually, it might be worth
mentioning about something mum
actually done. She'd been working
on it for about three years.
See, Charlotte corrects me
when I'm talking. I don't need it from you as well.
If you want to find out a little
bit more about the
Griffith Chronicles, which is
about mum's life
growing up in the 60s and 70s.
So it might be worth a read.
And 50s.
All the best years.
Yeah, pretty much.
So
I'll put a link into the description
if you want to go and check that out.
It's quite local to Ponder's End
and life growing up in that period.
Enfield. Corrected, again.
And yeah, so
if you want to do that, then go and have a look.
But it's time for us to go now.
Still loads of
stuff to do before we head back
next week. So
see you in a bit. Bye bye.
We're getting hotter
and hotter and hotter. I think it's about 32
again today. And I'm
really praying for a thunderstorm.
But I don't think one's coming. Anyway,
I want to get back to the shade so I shall say
goodbye. Have a great week.
