I can send you a copy of my free book. Hello, welcome back to my channel. If you're new,
welcome. In today's video we have Murray who's kind of like the reluctant YouTube cat. Murray
likes attention, loves food, hopefully loves us. So he's probably going to put up with some of
today's video but it's all about this little confession, very big confession I have. I have
a hard time saying no to Murray. Murray meows, gives me that cat look and what do I do Murray?
I give you food. Well the first thing it's admitting that you have a problem. Murray is
clearly overweight. He developed diabetes as a result of gaining all that weight being on
primarily dry kibble cat food. That was before I adopted him but he loves food and it's really
difficult to say no to Murray. So yes I admit I have a problem. Murray is a problem. I'm gonna
work on something Murray cat. All right kitty cat. Number two, we need to know where we're
starting from and where we want to end up. Our goal here is to first get a weight of Murray,
calculate you know 10% of his body weight and we're going to aim to lose that in the next three
to four months. So it's a relatively slow rate of body weight loss. It's much safer for Murray.
First it makes it much more likely we're going to be successful. Secondarily decreases the chance
of anything serious such as you know things such as fatty liver or hepatic lipidosis. Okay Murray
where you sitting at? We got a way you figure out 10% of that. Little Murray here. Oh yes he's a
little bit chunky. According to this scale it says you weigh 18 pounds. Oh Murray you're definitely
on the large side. There's a bunch of calculations you can do to figure out you know the number of
kilocalories required based on your cat's weight and what you need to do to have them lose weight
and ideally you can go through your veterinarian they can do all these calculations for you.
The kind of standard-ish would be about an average 10 pound cat which Murray is not would
eat approximately one standard can of cat food per day. So meaning if we're our goal is to get
Murray to 15 pounds he should be eating about a can and a half so that's three quarters of a can
twice a day maximum of this canned food. My third big point is you need to stop feeding this. This is
a dry cat kibble and you need to be feeding something like this good quality canned cat food
and or raw and or homemade that is animal protein does not involve a carbohydrate
and there anytime you're making kibble you need to use carbs you need to have a flour
that's going to form it into kibble. There's a whole bunch of research now showing this
clear correlation and especially so with cats. If you're going to have your cat lose weight not
turn into a diabetic not develop urinary tract disease you're getting him or her off of this
kibble onto this canned food like Murray and for Murray that has made the single biggest difference
in terms of me being able to take him off of injectable insulin and just manage his diabetes
with diet. Okay Murray good news as you know Murray I know you love this you no longer get this
this is your new favorite which I know you love.
Point number four let's look at adding in some additional probiotics to your cat's diet. What
are probiotics? These are these good positive bacteria they have an array of potential health
benefits with our cats but in particular there's been a link shown between them helping increase
metabolism and helping manage obesity and help promote weight loss. Two of the ones that have
been most researched with our animals are lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidobacterium.
This one here is a you know acidophilus supplement you want to look at levels of about 100 million
CFUs for 10 pounds of body weight daily so for Murray about 150 million CFUs. Also in my
supplement ultimate feline health formula I do have lactobacillus acidophilus along with
bifidobacterium. Meaning yes Murray should be getting my supplement on a regular basis
I'm not always so consistent so starting today for the next three months my goal is to get him
down to 15 pounds. Murray is going to be getting yes he's going to get this yummy quality canned
food he's also going to be getting some of my supplement okay Murray. Murray loves the supplement.
The fifth point is adding in another nutraceutical it's called colostrum. Colostrum is produced from
sort of the mother's first milk. The majority of colostrum that we're using for our pets
is derived from cows. Colostrum itself actually has some research behind it showing how it can
also increase metabolic rate. It's being used by athletes to help sort of help them recover post
workouts and some of the research coming out now is if it's used in adequate levels.
Murray just got the food on the ground. If it's used in adequate levels it may actually increase
metabolic rate so once again also helping promote some weight loss. Just trying to get us get Murray
from that 18 to 15 pounds. So this here is a colostrum supplement made by New Roots.
A standard colostrum dose for our cats is about 100 milligrams for 10 pounds daily.
Colostrum is also in my supplement ultimate feline health formula. I like the supplement.
So meaning using my supplement I can be giving Murray additional probiotics
along with additional colostrum which both may play a role increasing metabolic rate
helping him lose some of that weight that I know is important to get off of you.
So thanks you guys so much for watching this edition of NRA Secrets. Thanks Murray for
licking my supplement eating the canned food kind of being sort of agreeable to be part of
today's video. If you had to do so I encourage you to subscribe to my channel. Click there
