Welcome to MooMooMath and Science. In this video, let's go over how to convert 175 thousandths into a fraction. So the first thing I'm going to do is go ahead and place it over 1. So I've kind of created a fraction, but we can't have a decimal within the fraction. So what we can do is multiply the numerator and the denominator by 1,000. And what that does is first when you multiply 175 thousandths times 1,000, you move the decimal place 1, 2, 3, and you get 175. And then obviously 1 times 1,000 is 1,000. So now we have a fraction, but we need to reduce it. And so I know that I can divide both sides by 25. So when you divide 175 by 25, that gives you 7. And then 25 goes into 1,000 40 times. 7 is a prime number, so I know here is the fraction. So 175 thousandths as a fraction equals 7 fortieths.
