Autumn in Kyoto, Fall foliage at Kiyomizudera Temple, Nijo castle & Nishi Hongwanji Temple
1. Kiyomizudera temple
One of the most visited destinations in Kyoto, the temple was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites. The temple is famous as a viewing spot. You can see a splendid view from the wooden stage.

2. Nijo castle
Nijo castle was built in 1603 as the Kyoto residence of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Edo Period (1603-1867). Kyoto's castle is a world heritage site.
There are Japanese gardens in the surrounding area that you can admire in autumn.

3. Nishi Hongwanji temple
Hongwanji (Nishi Hongwanji) is the head temple of the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha Buddhist organization and received the designation as a UNESCO World Heritage in 1994 as part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto. A 400-year-old Giant ginkgo tree in front of the founder's hall is known as the "inverted ginkgo tree", one of Kyoto's natural treasures. This is a must-see!
