The final round of the CME Group Tour Championship was a nail-biter, whether we're talking
about the Race to the Ver trophy or the two-woman race at the top of the leaderboard, or even
Lydia Ko's final round surge.
Either way, I have a lot to update you guys on.
I'm Hope Arnett, and you're watching LPGA Now, presented by SurfPro.
Let's get into it.
Let's start with who won.
Gino Titicun.
She won $1 million from the Aon Risk Reward Challenge earlier this week, and just added
$4 million to that paycheck.
Can you believe, just in one week, you won $5 million, $1 million from the Aon Risk Reward
Challenge, $4 million from this tournament right here.
Can you believe that?
I can't.
I can't believe that.
The biggest check that I haven't received in my life, and also in women's golf history,
and then I just want to give a big thank you to CME for supporting and then helping us
to grow women's golf.
Gino and Angel Yin started the round tied at the top, and they both wanted it so bad.
That was obvious.
The champion birdied the first and the third.
She stays red hot.
What is not to like about this start from Gino Titicun, who has gone birdie, par, birdie.
And then Angel tied it back up with birdies on four and eight.
Boom.
Kind of like that.
Somewhere along the line, Lydia Ko started going low, like nine under low, and she was
climbing up the leaderboard.
I mean, just look at this shot into the 15th.
She had a good angle coming into this back left hole location.
Watch out.
Lydia.
It wouldn't be enough to win, but it would be enough for a solo third finish.
Angel started pulling ahead, because from holes 10 to 16, she birdied every other one.
And yet again.
Gino went back to back on 13 and 14.
A bit of pressure on Angel yet, and she's done it.
Oh, yes.
So that gets her to 18 under par.
But heading into 17, she was two back from Angel, until she did this.
Needs a bit of draw and carry.
It didn't have the best sound to it.
It didn't sound like she hit that solidly, but what a result.
Walk me through that eagle on 17, because that was so clutch.
That was absolutely insane.
I have one answer to tell you.
That's I hit a little behind the ball on the second shot.
I have no idea why I ended up so close to the pin.
I was like, I just told Ronnie, like, yo, I hit behind the ball.
Ronnie's like, no way.
I did.
And absolutely no fear heading into the 18th.
And if there was, you couldn't see it.
This is a pretty pure strike.
Best ball strikers on tour.
Oh, you can tell she liked it from the start.
It's only fitting that the best shot of the day on 18 came from the champion.
Ice in her veins.
The largest prize in women's golf goes to Gino Kidikun.
In dramatic fashion.
She walked the last 36 holes with her best friend, Ronnie, by her side.
And she was the first one to rush the green.
So Gino won the CME Group Tour Championship.
Mao Saigo won the Louis Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year honors.
And for the Ver trophy, it literally came down to this putt for Ayaka Fudewe.
And along with the tears from Gino's team,
we also had tears from three players hanging it up.
Lexi Thompson, Marina Alex, and Allie Ewing.
Three icons that we hate to see leave,
but will continue to thank for all that they've done for the game.
Although we still have the Grant Thornton Invitational to look forward to,
this is the end of the regular LPGA Tour season.
So I wanted to say thank you all for following along all year.
Be sure to come back next year and congrats to Gino Titicun.
