Isla Holbox Mexico just may be THE BEST ISLAND in Mexico! If you're looking for what to do on Holbox Island Mexico aka Isla Holbox aka the best island in Mexico you have come to the right place!
Just 2 hours north of Cancun, Isla Holbox is known for its sleepy fishing village vibes, sandy streets and lack of cars. Located in the Yum Balam Nature Reserve, it is a nature lovers paradise, with many activities to see birds, whale sharks, crocodiles, and more.
We would recommend to go for at least 3 days, as there is so much to do - relaxing on the beach counts as an activity right?! 😊
Come with us as we explore this magical island and show you what to do, see and eat on Isla Holbox. Make sure to watch until the end - you don't want to miss what's on the menu for dinner! 🦞

hello country collectors welcome back if
you're new here

press that subscribe button
and ring the bell so you don't miss out

today we're going to be taking you
around isla hobash
it is such a beautiful place we're going
to have so much fun but first
how do you get here from the adl bus
station in downtown cancun we purchased
a ticket to tequila for about 15 dollars
one way
they accept cash and card the buses
depart at 8 30 9
11 1. to be safe we purchased our
tickets the day before at the station
and easy two and a half hours later and
we have arrived to the port
once in tequila grab your stuff and head
out to the road a quick walk will take
you to the port where you can purchase
your ferry tickets
there are two ferry companies nine
hermanos and ahobash express and they
both charge the same amount
220 pesos or 11 dollars per trip and
they leave every 30 minutes
on the ferry you can sit in the air con
downstairs or upstairs in the sun
quick 20 minute ride will be over in a
flash grab those bags welcome to
paradise
now that we're here it's time for some
fun first thing on the agenda
kayaking in the mangroves oh here comes
our ride
come on in let's go
so they offer us some great hat coffee
it's very hot very hot coffee
gasoline even give it to you in a nice
little cup so you don't fill it all over
yourself
because that would happen with you
mmm that is some good coffee you know i
like my coffee like i like my women
strong and independent that's right you
ready for some fun
i'm so ready i hope you are oh yeah
there she goes
oh that is beautiful i think i might
just take it easy today and let the
ladies do the work
oh yeah i'll have to talk to this
she always brings her friends with her
they scare me
[Music]
we just got into the reserve and three
flamingos just shot over our heads
it is so beautiful you have to do this
tour
it's super relaxing i think it's the
best tour to do
early in the morning get it done before
it gets too
hot it's super relaxing especially when
your boyfriend is doing the paddling
that's right take me to the flamingo sir
yes mom
[Music]
and when you're in the reserve don't
forget to be
you don't want to scare the birds away
it's going to be a hard one for adam
his whisper is like my normal voice
it is so peaceful out here the quiet
is just i don't know it's so complete
and then you just hear a little bird
chirp or did you hear that beautiful
hope you're enjoying yourself we're so
glad you came along with us if you're
looking for
a fun relaxing tour to do contact
salvador at salvador tours
and remember guys no matter how much fun
you're having you need to make sure you
stay hydrated
it gets hot down here we just saw a
manta ray diablo
[Music]
oh flamingos i see flamingos
[Music]
adam what are you doing oh hey i'm doing
the flamingo dance
these incredible birds move their little
feet around that's why you see their
legs going up and down
it kicks the mud up and brings up these
microorganisms that they eat
and then they filter it with their beaks
those beaks can filter
2 000 liters of water a day so they are
working
full time another really interesting
fact they're completely
white when they're born and when they
start eating these microorganisms
it turns them pink that's crazy and so
cool
incredible you ready to get back out
there and see what we can find
i am so it's nice and relaxing on the
way out
on the way back right now we are going
against the current
and this is tough seriously necesito and
motor
it is hot we are getting there the ocean
is just ahead
our three-hour tour is more like a
four-hour tour
man i am hot that was a great kayak but
i'm thirsty so thirsty and we found some
coconuts
cold coconuts on the beach it doesn't
get better than that
puente cuesta
it's so refreshing definitely well
deserved after that kayak
we're smoking hot now we gotta go get
some breakfast
what's on the menu chilaquiles
come with us these signs just crack us
up look at one of them has a drink in
her hand
the other one's got a cowboy hat on and
a briefcase
i don't know i need a pick-me-up i think
this guy might be the right one
look how amazing this is we're just
walking down the beach and this guy has
nitro brew coffee he's an angel
a coffee angel i wish i was one of those
ice cubes
you can't country collect without some
coffee come down on the beach and grab
a nitro brew with santiago he is the man
boom we couldn't walk anymore it's way
too hot so we're getting a taxi back to
the center of town
for 50 pesos which is two and a half
dollars
it's worth it and shade is priceless
how am i supposed to drink my coffee so
a little tip if you're not sure
where to go eat you can ask your taxi
driver i just asked him
where the best chilaquiles in town were
and he said limoncito
and he dropped us off there so we're
gonna head in well
the table's outside so we're gonna sit
down and order some chilaquiles stay
tuned
can't wait they are delicious funny
story
the other day heidi asked me to go and
buy our bus tickets so i asked for dos
baletos
the lady started laughing at me and i
couldn't figure out why it turns out
chilaquiles are
this lovely looking dish i was supposed
to be asking for
tickets to chaquila no chilaquiles
i feel like mexicans have a lot of
laughs at my expense
and i totally appreciate that and i
totally appreciate it too
this is a super famous mexican dish here
it's good for breakfast lunch anytime i
got it with the
verde sauce basically it's tortilla
chips
topped with the green sauce and we can
get it with huevos or foyo so
egg or chicken and some cheese let's try
it out
wow i'm not kidding these are the best
i've ever had
you have to try this hey save some for
me
[Music]
i love my triloquilas if you're looking
for the best
chilaquiles you've ever had make sure
you come down to limoncito
laura we're talking to you there ain't
no rest for the wicked
money don't grow on trees i got games to
play
we got dogs to walk and these dog need
adoptees
please so let's go to isla hobash's
animal sanctuary and see what's woofing
around
what part of wolf don't you understand
maybe we'll get to take these dogs out
for a walk oh that'd be fun
[Music]
hey hey hey how's everybody doing look
at all these puppies
oh that little guy's missing a leg
if you saw our isla mujeres video you
saw that we went to easel animals there
it's their animal shelter on island here
on isla hobash they also have
a animal sanctuary where you can come
and walk the dog
as well look at all these pups like any
good place they have rules
while you're walking the dog you must
always keep them on the leash clean up
their poop
keep them under control stop them from
eating anything especially rubbish
this sounds like the rules heidi has for
me too yeah don't eat trash
what the they are just so excited to get
out there
this little guy's got some power hey
gloria she only has three legs but
that's not keeping her now hey gloria
we're gonna head down to the beach with
these pups get them some exercise
and if you would like to do this you can
go there every day they are open and you
can come walk the dog
the dogs really appreciate it too a lot
of these guys have had traumatic
experiences before they got here
so any love that you can give they would
really appreciate
i know doesn't that cool breeze feel
good the weather here changes so quick
it was just like super sunny no clouds
and now it looks like a storm's on the
horizon these dogs are
so chill we're just sitting down by the
ocean and the truth is they need homes
so if you're looking for a dog
you can come down here and adopt one
take it home with you and just give it
some love
we all need some love don't we it's
pouring rain right now but
our little friend's doing okay aren't
you all right
man he is ready to go it is
pouring
[Applause]
it's all right we're back guys guys get
in there
be safe
[Music]
it's not just dogs here they also have
cats they used to have a raccoon
they don't discriminate whatever needs
to be rescued they're willing to do it
here
the owner just truly believes in saving
all animals
it's really beautiful i actually got a
little choked up when she was talking
about it
man that storm came out of nowhere
i'm glad the puppies were so accustomed
to this i guess
they jumped less than i did when that
thunder started yeah so we've got
rained out we're gonna continue this
tomorrow we'll be backing up
we're back and the sun is shining so
we're going to take you into the center
where all the action happened along the
way keep your eyes open
holbox is known for having some of the
best street art in
all of mexico it's spectacular vamos
so you don't know what you're doing
and the walls are closing in
[Music]
one of the main appeals of this island
paradise is that there are no paved
roads
and there's no cars the only modes of
transportation are
golf carts and bicycles so let's go rent
some bicycles and explore some more
come with us
i don't know if you remember that
rainstorm yesterday but
the roads are flooded so the water
gathers in these giant pools and you
just have to deal with it
the locals don't seem to even skip a
beat but as a tourist when i'm knee-deep
in water
it's kind of a little disconcerting so
you might want to watch where you step
no bueno but not to worry there's water
everywhere
and a quick travel tip for you the
farther away you get from the center of
the town
the lower the prices tend to get when we
were just over there
bikes were 33 an hour down here they're
25 an hour
and we're just a couple of blocks away
i'm sure if we kept going they might
even go down a little bit more
so let's head over here and grab some
bikes
[Music]
wherever you rent a bike you need to
leave your license same thing with golf
carts make sure you have an id with you
that they can keep for the day they will
take good care of it and make sure you
get it back as long as you bring their
bikes back in good shape
it's one of those things the locals know
hattie just asked if it was gonna rain
and he walked out and looked at the sky
and said
maybe one hour now that we got our bikes
it's time to head to the beach
down at the waterfront you'll find lots
of the tour operators they're in these
really colorful stands
they have all the information you're
going to need there's whale shark tours
there's bioluminescent
tours you can take out kayaks or you can
just go around to the three island tour
that's one of the most popular ones
around
[Music]
and for all you singles out there
there's a tender meat point right here
all along the beach you can find
beautiful seaside restaurants
like mandarina it's supposed to be muay
delezioso
we have just left the center of town and
we are heading along the beach to the
east towards punta mosquito
there's a lot more hotels and beach
clubs and restaurants along the way
stay tuned to see how beautiful this
area of isla whole bush is
[Music]
welcome to the zona relaxation if you're
looking for a little
extra relaxation this is where you want
to come down and get a massage on this
beautiful beach
did yar know that the pirates came here
for fresh water and booty
uh originally pirates came here to get
fresh water a bunch of the pirates
stayed and married some of the original
mayan inhabitants and eight of those
families are still here today
that is so cool so we have reached the
farthest place you can either ride your
bike or take a golf cart this is the
start of the yambalam nature reserve
here on isla hobash
from here you can walk along the beach
but
look at this oh there'd be a storm a
bruin
so we're not gonna show you the beach
right now we need to go take some cover
but we'll put up some clips from the
other day enjoy
[Music]
out here right in front of us is a
sandbar at low tide it
is completely exposed and you can walk
all along it you used to be able to walk
right out here to punto mosquito
it is now closed because of
humans leaving garbage and scaring the
animals
[Music]
so we had to rush back we wanted to put
the drone away because
it started raining again we are here in
the rainy season so
it's probably gonna rain a little bit
yeah they tend to get some afternoon
showers
here and there but we're not gonna let
this ruin our time here
what kind of country collectors would we
be if a little rain ruined our day
exactly so we're gonna head out now back
to the beach and show you some more i
hope we can stop and get a snack along
the way
i'm hungry what else is new hey
another travel tip even if it's not the
rainy season where you're going
bring a waterproof bag this guy right
here
costs about 12 bucks it folds up into
nothing and it could save all of your
valuable items
life gear doesn't stop because of the
rain they just keep going look behind me
they're like
underwater and everyone's still having
fun
you saw my flip-flop get stuck before
sometimes after a big rain it's just
easier to go barefoot
and you'll see a lot of locals doing it
too check it out boom
let's go out and have some fun
dancing in the rain
dancing in the rain i don't know it
worked for fred astaire i'm
singing in the rain this rain forced us
to have a food break and you know who's
not mad about that
this guy we're gonna stop and grab some
sandwiches and hugos from
los dos hermanos i'm sure it's gonna be
delicious
cooking them off right here i didn't
realize it was gonna be
the size of my head this is a liter of
mango juice
for 50 pesos or 250.
it looks ridiculous and i can't wait to
try it
that is so fresh i cannot believe how
delicious that is
these look totally tasty
you're stuck it's raining you can't get
away
i'm eating in the rain
just eating in the rain
that is a wonderful feeling and i am
happy again
quick 20-minute rainstorm and it has
cleared now so we're gonna head to the
beach
we know it's not the best day to show
you everything on the beach
but we gotta work with what we got the
water in the sky aren't gonna be as blue
but just try to imagine it
all along the beach here in isla hobash
are beach bars and clubs where you can
go
and pay a fee say like 600 pesos which
is 30
but included in that will be 500 pesos
worth of food and drinks
so in reality you're only paying five
dollars to use their chairs
and their amenities for the day pretty
cool stuff
that sounds like a great deal to me
patty just made a really good point if
it had been sunny out
we wouldn't be taking this walk and it's
actually really nice even with the light
drizzle that's going on
the palapas are great in the sun or the
rain
you never have to leave the beach
we just walked all the way down here
from town and it didn't even take that
long maybe like 20 minutes 20 minutes
yeah
i'm thirsty what about you me too i say
we go check out the alma bar and see if
we can get ourselves some delicious
beverages
where are we this place is gorgeous
there's buddhas everywhere the music is
soothing
i can't wait to see what this rooftop
looks like
let's go don't look to the right there's
a man showering
you can rent these beds over here for
500 pesos for the whole day so 25
with this view that's spectacular
look on the hammock
we're so glad you could join us thanks
for coming along
hey what are you doing down there we'll
meet you at the sandbars
so every day in front of hotel los
angeles the sandbar becomes exposed at
low tide so we're not quite there yet
but it's getting pretty shallow i'm only
about
ankle deep this is actually where we
kayaked through yesterday so
it was much deeper than this at the time
it's almost there
[Music]
check it out it's completely exposed
wait not me
the sandbar
this is such a fun unique thing to do
here on isla holbosh definitely check
the tides when you come come here at low
tide
it'll be something you'll never forget
get here a little early though so you
can walk
out while it's still underwater and then
actually experience it
becoming exposed not me
thank god i've never seen something like
this have you
you were worried the rain was gonna ruin
your day
aren't you happy we kept going
are we gonna be on influencers in the
wild
[Music]
motivates you you gotta run before the
water comes back go
it's like a little massage on your feet
i love it
as you can see there isn't going to be a
sunset this evening
i mean technically there's always a
sunset even if you can't see it
that's right but we caught one three
nights ago
that was fuego so we're gonna put it in
right now for you
check it out got this weight on my
shoulders slowing me down
i don't know how it came about
and why the world is spinning faster
every night
i feel i'm stuck
[Music]
we came back we showered and we are
heading back out for
dinner we've heard there's one dish here
that you have to try so come along with
us it's gonna be a tasty treat
i can't wait seriously it's like that
game
don't touch the lava
[Music]
that is right we're having lobster pizza
i lived in massachusetts for over 20
years they make lobster ice cream they
do lobster fried diablo lobster with
butter
i've never heard of lobster pizza we had
to come all the way to mexico to try it
out and i cannot
wait i hope you're as excited as i am
[Music]
this lobster looks so good my mouth is
watering i can barely even talk
let's try it out
thin crust the lobster is so fresh kind
of bursts in your mouth
really really good you have to try this
and you have to check this out
man that pizza was good but not as good

tummies are full we're gonna head back
