hola buenos dias good morning from
oaxaca
right now we are heading out for our
morning hike we try to do this at least
three times a week sometimes when you're
in the city for too long you just feel
so cooped up
so this is a way to get our bodies
moving and feeling good in the morning
it is such a beautiful hike there are a
lot of steps but
you really once you get past the subject
you're just out in nature and it's so
beautiful
it's the best view of the city so stay
tuned and come with us
on this fun activity you might be out of
breath though you know i do
especially wearing needs so this is the
beginning of the hike we're on the steps
that go up to the auditorium
when you're in oaxaca city and you look
around you you'll see this big
white like some people refer to it as a
giant the giant diaper
it looks like a diaper it does i don't
care what anybody else says but it's the
auditorium where they hold the galaga
and it's the start of the hike a lot of
people come here just to do the steps
which is a great workout in itself but
we're gonna take you
up higher into nature let's go let's go
this is literally for everyone there's
kids there's adults there's
senior citizens everyone does this it's
a great place with some shade
that you can come out and get some
exercise and something really important
to us
is our safety and this is a very safe
place to come
you can come to the stairs anytime in
the day
we recommend if you're going to go on
the nature walk to come
in the early morning like starting six
o'clock
to maybe 10 o'clock because that's when
there's a lot of people there you always
want to be aware of your surroundings
and
safety is number one
as you can see i'm a little out of
breath already the first time we did
this
i was like oh i can run this like no big
deal
i totally forgot we're at an elevation
of over
a mile and i was not acclimated at
all these past seven weeks we've
definitely become a lot more acclimated
and the hike has become a bit easier but
still
remember when you get here that the city
is very high up
so you are going to feel more winded
than at sea level
but don't get discouraged
it's the policia they are here all the
time too so you really are safe
yeah it's really nice to know that
there's police there's police on the
steps
there's police up at the auditorium
there's even police on the nature hike
that we do
so you always feel protected on the
right up here you can see this
lovely little couple they make mamela's
which is a local breakfast
and he's squeezing fresh orange juice
right now so
if you have some treats after you work
out reward yourself
and then right above it that's the
tunnel that goes under the highway
and leads you up to the auditorium steps
so come with us from a personal note
it's really hard to make a video when
you're out of breath and just walked up
200 steps
so sorry that you have to listen to us
huff and puff but
hey i'm making this for you
the tunnel we're entering is such a
beautiful part of oaxaca like
i can't tell you enough if you're here
just check out this art
it's freaking beautiful it's like you're
in the sky
this is the first view of oaxaca
you can see the mist on the city it's a
beautiful
day some hawks flying above us
and here's the auditorium
we're gonna head up these left stairs
which are gonna take us to the back of
the auditorium and continue
our hike
still got a ways to go i was showing off
for you
one of the things about this hike is you
really have to do it at your own pace we
see people running up here riding bikes
up here
and it'll wear you right out the first
time we came here
i did the steps three times it's like
1600 steps up and down
and i couldn't walk for like a week so
take it easy especially at the start
oh yeah i don't even know
u-flex look at this view
so this is the back of the auditorium
you can see there's a road right here
this leads up to the planetarium and the
observatory but it's closed right now
due to coven
but you take this road to go to the
nature hike let's go another way to tell
you're going in the right direction is
the cell phone tower it doesn't look
very naturey but it's a great
landmark we've heard that this hike is
about six kilometers so maybe like four
miles total
from the bottom of the steps up to the
top of the mountain
and back down
show off
when you see the planetarium the road
splits left to the planetarium
and right to our hike you want to take
the right
and you want to take heidi with you
because she is muscly and can protect
you
[Music]
this is the beginning of the nature
trail this place is called
cerro delfortin which is a protected
natural area it's so cool to find a
place like this
in the center of a city i love this they
have
little squirrel houses along the way the
highways down there and as you can see
that's the top of the auditorium
so we are making our way up there's
those cell phone towers for reference
we got a ways to go hope you're ready
when you get to the little totem
pole see it kind of forks again left
or right and left you want to go to the
left
one of the great things about this hike
is that literally everyone can do it
it's
right on the side of the city so you
don't have to take a taxi or a bus here
it's super accessible um from our place
it's just like a 10 minute walk to the
steps
and the people you're seeing out here
are the locals they're riding their
bikes they're walking their dogs they're
just out for a walk oaxaca is awesome
the view is incredible come to oaxaca
woo
up up up we go this hike really gives
you perspective of how
large the city is and an appreciation of
the altitude
yeah and for our lungs and for our lungs
too
it's one of my first favorite stops
along the way i guess it's not our first
stop but
look at that view you talking to me and
the view of the city is not so bad
either
so as you can see we've really started
climbing now there's the auditorium down
there and the cell phone towers
the city is gorgeous i don't know if you
can see that mist over the whole city
but
it comes down from the mountains every
morning and burns off around 12.
buenos dias big mistake we forgot a
water bottle
yeah i would definitely recommend
bringing water on this hike it's not
too difficult but it's super dry and
we're at a high altitude and hydrating
is always important
hiking dance break oh yeah look at those
moves
hell yeah
we're almost there i think maybe like
five more minutes i don't know if you
can hear that but
what's that sound that's it's the gas
man
you can literally hear him everywhere if
you haven't seen our what's that sound
video
it's a ton of fun i'll link it up above
i don't know what kind of walker hiker
you
are but i enjoy going uphill more
whereas adam
i'm a downhill kind of guy it's just so
easy for me
i think it's because once i get my uh
mass we'll call it it might once i get
my mass
moving it's easy to keep it going
as we approach the top there's another
fork in the road
you want to take the left which takes
you up to the actual top of the mountain
this is my favorite part this turn
you'll see a sign right ahead
and i'm such a surprise the first time
we did it and it made me feel so good
it says to erase perfecto you are
perfect
yeah it's a nice little bit of
encouragement
[Music]
oh yeah you guys are perfect just the
way you are i'm just kidding
thanks babe they repurposed tires and
made them into planters
look at this they made a little ladybug
planter
it's so damn cute we are in the final
leg
of this incredible journey it's the
final
countdown oh there she goes again
great job thanks so much for coming
along with us
this is across the top of the mountain
that's how you know you made it i know
it's one of those cliches where they say
it's not the destination it's the
journey but this hike really is
the the journey that is the best part
yeah at the top you have the 360
panoramic but
it's obscured by all these trees so as
you're walking up
really take in the view because it's
it's the best
here is the best view
i've ever had in my entire life
if you can see this right here that is
monte elban
we made a video of it last week we'll
link it up above if you didn't see it
it is such a special archaeological ruin
here
it's the most famous in oaxaca so we
definitely recommend it check it out
now comes my favorite part the down
we're going to definitely bring you
along on this we're going to take a
different route down than we did up
so you know just kind of keeps it mixed
up you can go back the way you came it's
not a problem either but
we're going to show you a little trail
that takes you through a little more
nature
so keep those laces tight
i'm sure you've been seeing all of our
food videos
we've packed on a couple lb's and i can
only imagine if we weren't doing this
hike
how many more there would be so if you
want to keep the weight off here in
oaxaca
this is a good way to do it stay active
yeah this is actually one of the more
slippery spots like you can see
you really just if you're not paying
attention you could eat it you could eat
it
sort of like we do in all of our other
videos
like that i almost just ate it yeah pay
attention
i am to you you're beautiful
so we're gonna show you some different
views on the way down
it's the northwest side of oaxaca i mean
the mountains are so beautiful it looks
like you can walk up to that tower over
there
i don't know if you can see it but over
here on that hilltop is another cross so
obviously people do walk over there and
you can see the trails winding up the
mountain
check it out even nino's are walking
this trail if he can do it
you can do it honestly people are so
friendly here
like as we go up and as we go down
people are running they're huffing and
puffing
and they always stop and they're like
everyone says
you know just like the way we found this
trail we were standing there for about
five minutes debating if it was
something we should do
and some guy ran up and was like it's
beautiful you should go this way and
then we started and we were a little
lost which is why we're making this
video so you don't get lost
yeah and a guy with his dogs was like no
don't go that way follow me i'll take
you with my dogs and
he walked up the mountain and we
followed him so if you're looking for a
friendly place to visit in mexico
oaxaca is just i mean it's the top of my
list even in the world just the most
friendly people
and of course you should always be
wearing masks in public this trail
when it's busy there's a lot of people
on it so sometimes we'll pull it down
when
we're making the video when no one's
around but when people are coming we
always put it up out of respect for
them and ourselves absolutely and it's
totally your right whether you're going
to choose to wear a mask or not but when
you're in someone else's country
you should respect their rules and their
laws and their lives really
you can do it you can do it i know how
you feel that's how i feel on the way up
we're on our way back the left here will
take you back the way we came right up
to the planetarium
my right and down here
on my right you're going to be going
down a different route down the mountain
which will take you through a little
more in nature
it's a little steeper so if you don't
want to have a little more adventure
go that way this is going to lead down
to a
outside gymnasium so after your walk if
you want to hit the gym for a little bit
and get a little more exercise in we
recommend taking the left
so we've come to another fork in the
road you're going to want to go
down to the left to continue down the
mountain
still getting in those beautiful views
of the city and as you can see the
auditorium is right there so we're
almost back
you're doing a great job so are you
thanks
remember support each other
oh yeah slipping into sliding it's
parkour baby
i think we should name this angel trail
because i'm hiking with an angel
so we finished the hike congratulations
um when you get to the end you'll see
this fence opening and if you come
through that
it'll take you to the outside gymnasium
which is really awesome we've noticed in
a lot of other countries like in
asia and mexico and south america
that they offer these outside
gyms so anybody can exercise for free
which we think is super important
let's see what we can do
oh leg press feel that burn
oh yeah baby is that for your obliques
i don't know what it's working but it's
fun
98 99 100.
hey liar
all right now that we're jacked we're
going to show you the way back
to the stairs and the auditorium
hopefully get some snacks
hey buddy it's a pretty big stick
follow the leader
buenos dias see just really nice people
and really cute dogs and really cute
dogs uh so we're back at the auditorium
where the gala gets is held
uh it's right where we started it has
been such a great hike thank you so much
for coming along i'm hoping
that right down the steps here through
that tunnel that lady still gonna be
there selling the
mamas and the fresh orange juice oh man
it looks so good i'm so thirsty i could
really go for it i'm so thirsty too i
wish we brought water remember bring
water on your hikes it's really
important well let's go see if she's
there
they're still open yes
looks like all the oranges have been
squeezed in oaxaca
[Music]
you know i love to turn everything into
a taco so let's fold this baby up and
see how it is
nice after hike treat it's an awesome
after-high treat
so we're at the end of our morning hike
we just want to say thank you again so
much for following
us you guys are our biggest support and
we wouldn't
do this without you absolutely um if you
are in oaxaca or you're planning to come
