Hi everyone, and welcome to another video.
Today's video is gonna be really exciting
because I'm gonna be showing you my new dorm at Columbia.
I am a senior, so this will be my last college move-in.
It's been almost 1 1⁄2 years since I've lived on campus
due to the COVID-19 pandemic,
so I'm really excited to be able to spend my senior year
on campus in person.
I'm actually moving in early
because I'm an orientation leader
for the New Student Orientation Program, or NSOP,
and so we have three days of OL training,
or orientation leader training,
followed by NSOP,
and then classes start on September 7th.
So first, I'm headed to Hartley Hall,
which is where our housing department is located,
and I'm gonna check in and just get my key card refurbished
so I can actually enter my room.
Outside of Hartley,
there's actually an NSOP orientation leader registration
or check-in as well,
and so I got my lime green T-shirts.
They gave us two for the week
because we're gonna be getting hot and sweaty
staffing all the events,
and we can just launder them accordingly.
I got my NSOP shirt, and then I also got my badge,
and then this is like emergency phone numbers.
After getting housing all sorted out,
I wanted to give you guys a sneak peek
of what gateway testing looks like.
So gateway testing is what the first COVID test
that you get when you get back on campus is called,
and it's held in Lerner Hall,
so essentially, you just swipe in.
You have to have a green pass,
which means that you don't have the symptoms of COVID,
and you've adhered to the university's guidelines,
and so once you swipe in with your ID,
you're just headed down Lerner ramps.
This is a little bit of what it looks like.
This is for gateway testing,
and then this is where everyone gets checked in,
and then you walk in there to get your test.
Alrighty, so now I'm gonna bring you guys to my dorm
and show you around my room.
Hi, y'all.
Oh, hi, y'all.
I just moved into my Broadway single.
It is pretty nice.
I think it's a little bit bigger
than my singles were freshman, sophomore year.
Right now, I'm just gonna clean up the room
just to make sure everything's nice and ready for living,
and then I will show you guys what the room looks like
and also my mini fridge that I rented today.
So, yeah.
I have to put that occupied sign
just so they know I'm moving in early.
And yeah, this is my room.
Okay, so this is my fridge.
I'm just plugging it in to make sure it works.
Oh, it's nice and cold.
Okay, it works.
Awesome.
This is my bed.
Oh, gosh, maybe I should've put it lower.
Whatever.
Maybe I'll just climb onto it every night.
But yeah, I'll show you guys what it looks like
when it's all set up.
Two hours later.
Okay, so I just finished setting up my room.
It's still very messy, but here's my bed.
This is the neatest part of the room right now.
And then here's my plushies and tape and other things.
So right now, I have 10 minutes to get down to Lerner,
which is the student activity center.
We have our first OL training there.
So I will meet you guys there.
Okay, so I think our OL training is up here.
Hi.
I'm vlogging, hi.
Subscribe to the Caroline's channel.
It looks so different from what I'm used to
because it's been like one and a half
or maybe like two years since I've been on campus.
And so like half of the faces here are new.
In person, we hope that you are all excited to be here.
We are kicking off training today.
We hope that you're excited.
Who's excited?
Woo!
After having our OL welcome,
we split up into smaller groups.
Each crew is sitting at a different table.
So all of us here that you see are orientation leaders.
And one of us at each table is the crew captain
who is in charge of managing the orientation leaders.
So kind of like the OL for the OLs.
Hello, everyone.
Hi.
This is Elle.
She is a junior.
Yes.
And she's also a TBC OL,
which is like Transfer Visitor Combined Plan Program.
Maybe I'll go around and I'll show everyone.
Everyone who's in our group.
Oh, we're back.
Okay, so essentially we just had our training
and we just got all of our assignments.
We will show you what dinner looks like in Paris.
One hour later.
We just finished training.
I'm going to go down to Ferris to get my dinner.
It's all grab-and-go because of COVID.
Back to the dining hall.
A quesadilla, fried chicken, fried okra.
Very unhealthy.
Oh, wait, that looks good.
And it's-
Oh, wait, so we can still grab,
but we just have to go.
Okay.
Yeah, it's like the same thing.
Oh, okay.
Oh, Ferris.
Like all the stations are open.
Nice.
This is Ferris Hall.
This is my favorite dining hall during my first year
because it was right next to my first year residence hall.
And there are so many different stations.
This is like the pasta station.
There's a pizza station.
And this is the action station.
And today they're making quesadillas.
Right now I am outside of Fernald's.
You guys know Fernald's if you watched my move-in vlog
from when I moved in as a freshman.
This is nice.
It's like kind of humid, but it's not too hot.
This is, what is this?
Oh, mozzarella and cheese.
Then I got chicken quesadilla.
And then I got more food from the food bar thing.
I don't think I'm gonna finish it, but I do have a fridge.
So I'm just gonna put it in my fridge.
One hour later.
Right now it's like 5.50 or like 6 p.m.
So we basically just finished training
and then we had dinner.
I had dinner outside with my friend Annabelle
and new friend Nikita.
And what else?
Maybe I'll just like, I'll try to make this vlog also.
I'll try to edit this vlog and everything.
Just so I am able to document more of my journey.
But yeah, thanks for coming on our day one journey
of NSOP OL training.
And I'll see you guys tomorrow.
So that is a wrap for day one of NSOP OL training
and also Columbia move-in.
I hope you all enjoyed and I'll see you guys soon.
Bye.
