I've had ever.
This should be illegal.
Italians know how to do life.
Look at the size of this Negroni.
What dishes I've had today?
More food, I'm so hungry.
Andiamo, ragazzi.
Good morning from Venice.
This is our second day here and today is a very exciting day
because it's focused around our favorite thing, which is food.
Today is a place called Cipizza, a pizza, which kind of translates to
there's pizza and pizza.
I love it how everything here is within 10-minute walking distance
or in this case, like 2-minute walking distance from our apartment.
Okay, I think we just got here.
That's Diabola.
It's really good.
Thicker batter.
It's chewy, but it's good.
Very good.
It's simple, but it's very tasty.
I really like the dough.
So you prefer that one?
Simple, ricotta, spinach, tomato.
It's pretty refreshing.
You want to try the Diabola?
The dough is amazing.
It's not just salami, it's actually spicy, which is amazing.
Which one do you like better?
Well, this is a pizza.
This is more focaccia, but very good.
And also for 2.50 euros.
Centina, a cicchetto with raviola, a cicchetto with buttered cod,
and a glass of Malvasia.
Now this place is super famous for its cicchetti
and really good local wine as well.
We actually learned about this place from Stanley Tucci.
We sat down, we got four cicchetti, and we're sharing one glass of wine.
This one I think has mushroom in it.
So that one has the raviola cream cheese.
I think I like this one.
With truffle, and there's one mushroom on top.
Yeah, this one is really good.
This one is...
Bacala, I guess?
Yeah, the local dish, which is cream cod, basically.
The other one is also a mix of cod, but also with anchovy as well,
and capers, I think.
And that's classic, I think it's coppa,
or some sort of a pork cold cut with eggplant
and parmesan cheese and spinach, I think.
Of course, I will try this one.
There's the raviola, cream cheese with...
Truffle.
Super nice.
Very good?
So this whole thing, all of these four and the glass of wine,
together were €15, which is actually really good.
Wine is super cheap.
So a glass of really good local wine here is somewhere around €3.50,
maybe €4.
And the cicchetti usually tend to be around €3, €4 a piece,
depending on the toppings.
Also, there's only a few tables around this place,
so a lot of people tend to eat standing or drink their wine standing.
So it's kind of tough to find a place to sit down, actually.
We got lucky, no?
One last thing I want to say about this type of cicchetti bars is
they usually tend to close quite early in the day.
So this one, for example, closed at 2.30.
We got here just at 2.00.
They still had quite a few things,
but normally you can't find these places open late in the afternoon and so on.
This is something that people would eat in the first half of the day.
So I'm going to do the cream cod.
Can't really go wrong.
You can and you should trust all the seafood dishes in this area.
There's a really large seafood market next door.
All the restaurants in Venice buy their stuff from there,
so you can rest assured that everything is super fresh here.
Okay, you have to try all four and say which one's the best one.
All right, this is the cod with anchovy.
Slap.
Mmm.
This is number one. I already know.
You have to try the truffle one.
Ten out of ten. Ten out of ten.
Ten out of ten.
You will change your mind once you try the truffle one.
They managed to make it somehow refreshing,
even though it's meat on it.
Very good.
This one's still better.
I mean, it's truffle. Can you go wrong with truffle?
Number one.
Really? Still number one?
Number two.
Okay.
Number three.
Four.
Okay.
Would you say this is better than this?
I haven't tried this one.
All right.
I have to find one.
I prefer that one.
So that's the classical Venetian one.
Like, if you're to come to Venice and only have one,
it should be that.
It's a bit more subtle than this one.
Yeah, it is.
That one's quite strong.
So right there behind Laura,
that's Cantina do Mori,
which is one of our next couple of stops.
We would have gone right now,
but there's another place that closes in half an hour.
So our next stop is a place called Cantina do Spade.
They close in half an hour,
but they're not serving food anymore.
So they said they open again at 6,
and we can reserve a table for them.
We tried to make an effort to come here before 2.30 p.m.,
because even though they close at 3,
they won't serve food anymore,
which I guess makes sense.
So we made a reservation for tonight at 8.45,
which means that will be our final stop.
Now we're just heading back to Cantina do Mori,
which again is known for its cicchetti,
and apparently they have really, really good wine.
The same cod as before,
but it's on polenta instead of bread,
which again is very traditional.
And this is one of the most traditional things in Venice,
which is sardesaur,
which is sardines,
but in sort of like vinegar.
It's a bit sour.
Want to try one?
Yeah, I'll try the polenta one.
Good?
Is the polenta good?
Polenta's very good.
It's super, super creamy.
Nice.
Really nice.
Alright, this is the sardine one.
It's almost like pickled sardine,
but like very good.
Quite refreshing.
It's not heavy at all.
Really nice.
For those of you that really are wine connoisseurs,
this place is really nice.
They have more expensive wine as well,
so you can get glasses of...
I don't know.
I've actually filmed a list of them,
like Amarone from 2018 and so on,
for €16 or €18 for a glass,
which in London is a very average glass of wine in a restaurant,
but here would probably make for an amazing glass of wine.
So if you want to try something a bit fancier, I guess,
this is definitely a good place to come for it.
She's a really good saleswoman.
So nice, so nice, the lady inside.
I wanted to get one of these.
It's prosciutto and radicchio.
These are called tramezzino, tramezzini.
Basically tiny sandwiches, normally without the crust.
I see this one has a bit of crust, so this should be legal.
And then I asked her which one her favorite was.
I genuinely meant instead of this,
but then she was like, no, no, you have to take both now,
like as a joke.
This is a bit spicy, I don't know, picante something.
And then she said, it's €2.40, cash.
I said, I have no cash.
And I said, okay, can I take something else?
She said, you have to take this one,
the rosé prosecco that's local as well.
So I got a glass of that as well now,
just so I can pay with my card.
This is the way they're supposed to be, the tramezzini.
They're tiny.
They're meant to be super curved in the middle
because of how much filling they put inside.
It's good.
I do like the fact that you can try so many different things
in small amounts,
as opposed to getting a really large sandwich or something.
Try the second one.
Same, but a bit spicier.
Dark bread.
I would say the tramezzini are a bit safer for most people.
I would probably think everyone would like this.
Whereas the cicchetti,
some of them can be a bit hit and miss based on your taste.
But the wine, really nice.
All three of them, really, really good.
So we're going not far away to a place called Acqua e Maiz,
which as far as I know, means water and corn.
And they're very good at, initially, tramezzini.
We're supposed to get those there, but we got them here,
so I'm not sure if we'll still get anything.
And the other thing they're really good at is fritto misto,
which is basically a bowl or a box of something
with mixed seafood that's been deep-fried.
That's also very traditional for Venice,
so super excited to try that.
How would you rate your fullness at the moment?
80% full.
80%?
I'd probably say 63% full.
So I realize why it's called Acqua e Maiz,
because they serve Acqua, like seafood, and Maiz, which is corn.
So that thing is fried polenta as well.
It's like polenta sticks that come with it.
It is quite a big portion.
I don't think €10 is too much for that.
No, it's not. Definitely not too much.
Okay, very good.
A bit salty.
Oh, it's good.
Do you want some?
It's really good. A bit salty.
Salty.
Oh, there's a little sardine over here.
Sardine.
I can see the appeal of this dish, but it is heavy,
so I think a big portion is quite a lot.
Oh, my God, there's a seagull!
Can you imagine if it attacked me?
Look at this view.
I would be careful if I were you.
I love how he catches his mid-air.
All right, buddy, thank you. Bye-bye.
All right, fine, one more.
All right, bye.
Fine, last one.
All right, one more.
This is literally the last one.
There's no left.
That's it.
Okay, what's the next stop? Gelato, right?
Next stop, we walk back to Rialto Bridge, cross it again.
He's still waiting, look at him.
Aw.
Look at him, he's still there.
So, gelato first, let's go.
Gelateria Gallonetto, just now.
So far today, I think we've made really good choices.
Realistically, I don't think we had any bad experiences today.
No.
They were all really good, in different ways.
This is the pistachio, and this is the mascarpone with figs.
Are we happy?
The pistachio one is very, very good, very good.
And the mascarpone one is very good as well.
Just a bit more understated.
They're so creamy.
One of the best I've had ever.
Really?
Wow, this is tasty, it's delicious.
Like you said, it's a bit more understated.
It has like a really good texture.
Very good.
Yeah, it's not just the taste, it's the texture.
What a nice spot.
The gelato itself is probably top three, top five ever.
Really nice, really, really nice.
Okay, now that we've got the gelato out of the way,
are you ready for some tiramisu?
Tiny bit.
First with our little tiramisu here.
So I told you how I read about this tiramisu here,
that it's very good.
I now realize why.
Because they make it with pistachios.
Alrighty then.
Lo and behold, I present to you,
tiramisu with pistachio.
Is it shameful?
This should be illegal.
So you're saying it's so bad, they should ban it?
I think you would love this.
Would?
We will never find out.
This is the last one too,
so if you eat the whole thing, I'm never going to have it.
This is the last one?
Yeah.
You sure?
Enjoy.
I'll see you.
I'm out.
On our way here, Laura was telling me how
there's no way I can eat anymore.
I just love the texture.
It's like a gooey filling.
The pistachio is not overpowering.
Yeah, the tiramisu itself is very good,
which is why this is very good.
For me, this is a 10 out of 10, for sure.
You can just have one more bite.
I am finished.
I can't even do one more bite.
All yours.
Honestly, the backdrop that you have right now
is absolutely insane.
It is nice.
I've been wanting to come to this place since last time,
but we only got to come here when it was really rainy.
It just wasn't a vibe.
I mean, look at the size of this Negroni.
This is huge.
It's humongous.
It might have a bit of extra Campari,
but this is pure Negroni.
Look at the size.
This is an apple spritz.
Do you have an olive in there?
I think you do.
On my research list for this place,
they did have Tramettini,
which is the small triangular sandwiches we had earlier,
but I just simply cannot eat anything right now.
Look at this.
How amazing is this?
And the view you have that way...
Honestly, this is one of my favorite spots here in Venice.
It's so good.
I know.
One of the best.
I'm so glad we came here, honestly.
The drink's super generous and very, very good.
There's loads of gondoliers passing,
and they're also singing,
and everyone's clapping.
It's such a nice vibe.
I think with booking a gondola,
you got the option of paying additionally for a singer on board,
which I always thought it might be a bit tacky.
But it's not.
But realistically, because we've just seen a couple of them passing by...
Oh, it's cool.
It's Venice.
Yeah, it's Venice, exactly.
Any spritz you get is priced at €5 a piece.
The Negroni was the most expensive one.
That was €12 here.
It's usually about £12 in London too,
but again, this was at least three times the amount.
The coffee is €1 each,
which, again, is crazy.
London is like £3 at least.
So we got a few more places now.
We're going to go walk across the Accademia Bridge.
Okay, so normally during the day,
they have all kinds of sandwiches and savoury stuff.
But right now, because it's quite late,
they only have the sweet stuff left.
And they said this is their best ever.
It's called Fiamma, I think.
It's called Flame.
And it's some chantilly cream, whatever that is.
And it's meant to be delicious.
It's a really nice cream.
It tastes a bit like rum.
One of my favourite cream type of pastries ever.
So this is a tiny stop.
I do suggest if you do come here during the day,
you can try this stuff.
Savoury sandwiches, that kind of stuff.
Did you get this?
It cannot go wrong.
This is...
Honestly, this is delicious.
I know you're not a massive fan of pastries with cream,
but as far as they go, decent.
Very fresh.
And not too overpowering.
It's not too sweet.
Yeah, it's not too sweet.
Yeah, it's really good.
We are closing in right now to one of our last stops
before we head back to San Marco.
This is such a nice area, right?
I know.
So, I don't know, underrated.
Look at that building.
It's so cool.
And then the boats.
This is a less glamorous part of Venice,
but in a way, I think I prefer it.
It's part of the charm, right?
Ordered two cicchetti and one glass of white wine,
one aperol.
And she told me to cover with a napkin my food.
I mean, not me.
I didn't tell you.
No, no, no.
You said she told you.
No, I meant she.
I meant she as the girl who served the food.
She said, make sure you cover your food
because there's really angry seagulls outside.
Yeah, so I saw one stealing food from someone's plate.
I didn't manage to catch it on camera.
I would have liked to.
That would have been amazing.
Yeah.
That would have been amazing.
But like a whole slice of bread.
Look at this area for pricing compared to San Marco.
So, one aperol spritz, one glass of white wine,
two cicchetti, 10 euro.
Well, let's jump in.
So, I got two cicchetti,
one with tuna and caramelized onion.
Okay, I'll try this one.
I'll try this one.
And the other one is with mortadella and olives.
They were still making loads fresh right now.
So, like this is not from this morning.
This is made now.
Yeah.
The bread's really good.
Yeah, it's really good.
Oh, it's artichoke, I think, not olive.
So, this glass of white wine is 3 euro.
This one's so good.
Oh, it has cream cheese as well.
Close to the best cicchetti I've had today.
The one with mortadella, right?
Yeah, the one with mortadella.
If I had to choose between this and the ones with hot
that we had earlier, it's a close call.
The bread is also very good.
Probably the best one we've had so far.
Yeah, the bread is fresher here, I think.
Yeah.
So, what do we think about Osteria al Squero?
Really nice.
I like the vibe.
So many locals.
The food is so cheap and the wine is so cheap as well.
I really recommend it.
Value for money.
Incredible.
We're just approaching Osteria al Pugni.
More food.
I'm so hungry.
Andiamo, ragazzi.
Here's to an amazing day in Venice.
Italians know how to do life.
And they don't do it super lavishly.
What's this?
Not porchetta.
She said pancetta.
With cream cheese, huh?
Again, amazing.
It does what it says on the box, right?
It's very good.
It's high quality.
High quality cream cheese, high quality bread,
high quality pancetta.
And what I love about Italy,
I mean, I don't really eat cold cuts,
but the cold cuts are such good quality
compared to other parts in Europe.
Two more spots to hit.
Honestly, I've loved today so far.
How?
It's easy to keep someone happy
when they have good food and good drinks, honestly.
What percentage of fullness are you right now?
I mean, are we talking about common sense fullness
or insulting fullness?
Insulting fullness.
Oh, like 50%.
No.
Honestly, I would just want to hang out here
more for the vibe than anything else.
And the weather is perfect.
There's not a huge difference
between daytime and nighttime.
It's like, it's perfect.
So all the popular and main attractions in Venice
are really, really beautiful.
But I feel like you shouldn't miss out on this area,
which is a bit more local
and a bit more affordable
if you want to drink or eat something.
100% recommend.
Incredible value for money.
What do we have here?
Fizzy chilled wine.
Red.
Red wine, yeah.
It's really, really good.
For three euros for one glass.
Incredible.
And a croquette with?
It's swordfish with pine nuts and...
Raisins?
Yeah, raisins.
Okay, I wasn't sure.
Which is really good.
Really good.
The best food I've had today.
One of the best dishes I've had today.
And I hate raisins,
but this is actually really delicious.
I'm slightly sad that earlier in the day
this was closed when we wanted to come
and we had a bit more space in our stomach.
It's such a good combination
between sweet and savoury, no?
I know.
I think this is safe to say
this is my favourite croquette of my life.
Yeah, honestly.
Croquette-wise,
if that's a thing,
this is the best ever.
For what?
Two, three euros?
Swordfish?
Come on.
Really high quality.
Okay, we're gonna go
and the main aim of this evening
is to get some spaghetti with squid in.
So let's see if we can do that.
Let's go.
Like, are you even joking?
That side as well.
Honestly, during sunset
with the pink colours,
it's so beautiful.
It's amazing.
Honestly, it is.
I would rate your dish
9.2 out of 10.
Mine, 8.5.
Your portion is so huge.
Like, you could be eating out of it all day.
It's so well cooked.
It's so tender, honestly.
You've been eating out of it
for 10 minutes.
Look at that, I ate all my food.
No, you didn't.
It's so good.
We're now in St. Mark's Square.
That is the Doge's Palace
and that right there
is the side of St. Mark's Basilica
and it's a beautiful, beautiful evening
with one little problem.
It's not a huge problem.
There's a bit of a flood going on.
