What's up, everybody?
JC with Stoner Car Care.
Today, we're talking about brown tires.
What is it?
What causes it?
And how to take care of it.
Be sure to like and subscribe.
So there's a few things that can make your tires look this nasty brown dull color.
One, you drive through mud, you drive on the road, that road grime will make it look nasty.
Two, if you have too much buildup of tire shine, sometimes that can pick up and hold
dirt.
That'll also keep you looking brown.
The third and maybe the most prevalent browning issue is the anti-ozonants they put in tires
to protect them from the ozone, anti-ozonants.
So what these things do, and some people refer to them as blooming chemicals, they infuse
it with the rubber when they're molding these tires, and it will slowly over time bloom
and blossom out to the surface.
And what that does is keep this rubber soft, supple, and keeps it lasting longer than before
they put those chemicals in these tires.
Unfortunately, when those chemicals come to the surface, they react with the air and they
turn nasty brown.
But fortunately, all three of these soils are taken care of with the same way.
Your favorite wheel cleaner, tire cleaner usually does the job.
First step with all these is get your tire wet.
Step two, apply your favorite wheel cleaner or all-purpose cleaner, whatever you're gonna
be using to clean your wheels and tires.
Do so liberally, just get that all over there.
Today we're using Stoner's Wheel Cleaner.
It's got some good cling.
Make sure that chemical can grab onto the surface and do its job.
And then basically you're just gonna let that sit for a few minutes, start breaking down
the soils, and then getting rid of some of that brown nastiness around your wheels.
Next step, get your favorite wheel brush.
This basically has a nice kind of medium strength texture on there, and start agitating your
tires.
And what you're gonna quickly see is that what once was nice white foam is now nasty
and brown.
That's good because you're pulling it off of your tire into the foam to help that wash
away.
While you're down here, don't forget the rims and everything around there, the calipers.
While you're here doing the work, make it all look good.
Make sure you're using your wheel and tire bucket, not your car wash bucket because this
is the dirtiest part of the car.
You don't wanna be doing this and then having that grit spread somewhere else on your vehicle.
Next we're gonna rinse it off and let it dry.
And finally, thanks to the magic of editing, this tire is magically dried already.
So the last step is just put on your favorite tire dressing to make that pop and look like
brand new.
Thanks for watching this video on why your tires are brown.
We'll see you on the next one.
