well the presidency and the Senate have
already been decided the majority of the
House of Representatives has not been
determined 22 news reporter Clare
Overton joins us live in studio with how
this may impact residents here in
Western Massachusetts Siara on Wednesday
it was determined that Donald Trump was
the next president-elect and on that
same day Republicans took the majority
in the Senate after flipping a few seats
but now today three days after the
election many seats in the House of
Representatives still remain unknown and
therefore no majority just
yet it's not settled yet I think that
whoever wins it's likely to be by a
handful of seats three days after the
election and many races across the
country for seats in the US House of
Representatives remain unknown and US
Congressman Richard Neil believes either
side could still win we picked up three
seats in New York which was our goal and
then we lost two seats in Pennsylvania
which we did not see coming to have the
majority in the House of Representatives
one party needs to secure at least 218
seats and once they reach that number
not only does it mean they have more
members but representatives from their
party will become the chairs of the
Committees I think that what we were
able to accomplish during the four years
that I was chairman certainly uh was
important to the people of Western and
central Massachusetts but when you look
at the legislative achievements it was
important to the country back in 2019 us
Congressman Richard Neil became the
chairman of the House of Representatives
Ways and Means Committee which is
focused on reviewing and making
recommendations for government budgets
the rescue package the infrastructure
Bill uh the chips act the Butch Lewis
act the inflation reduction act these
were seismic pieces of legislation that
will be measured I think for years to
come in a favorable light Congressman
Neil believes that many of these laws
and bills will not be undone through the
next Administration as they already have
been adopted by
many so clear right now there are still
more than 20 seats that remain undecided
and 11 of those seats are in California
yes and it might take a little while to
determine those seats because per
California law County election officials
have 30 days past the election to count
every valid ballot and they accept those
mail and ballots 7 days after the
election day as long as they are
postmarked by election day so it could
be a little longer before we receive all
of those results for the House Seats all
right
