STOLEN Truck w/ Flatbed Trailer hauling Skid Steer - ASP Attempts PIT MANEUVER #pursuit #police
Trooper's Report:
On 10/28/2024 while on regular patrol I heard via the radio that Cleburne County Sheriff's Office was attempting to make a
traffic stop on a vehicle that was reported stolen near Pleasant Springs Road West. The vehicle that was reported stolen was a
red Ford F-450 pulling a flatbed trailer with a skid steer on the trailer. The vehicle failed to stop and the deputies in pursuit of
the vehicle requested the assistance of the Arkansas State Police.
While en route to the pursuit deputies stated that the truck attempted to drive head-on with law enforcement vehicles. Deputies
stated that the vehicle was traveling at high rates of speed. They also stated that the suspect would drive into oncoming lanes
of traffic forcing other vehicles off the road almost causing several head-on collisions.
I caught up to the pursuit near State Highway 5 at Dennison Rd. Once I reached the pursuit, I got in front of the suspect vehicle
to slow it down in an attempt to box the suspect vehicle in. The suspect vehicle made an abrupt left turn onto Dennison Road
which is a gravel road.
Once the vehicle made the left turn onto Dennison Road, I took over as primary in the pursuit. I followed the vehicle for
approximately 4 miles on the gravel roads in an attempt to stop the fleeing vehicle, however, due to the suspect's erratic driving
and dusty roads, I was unable to catch up to the suspect vehicle at this time.
Once I found an opening where I could see around the suspect vehicle, I attempted to get up next to it so I could try to force it
off the side of the road into the ditch to end the pursuit. As I maneuvered up to the driver's side, I noticed a deep culvert to my
left, so I slowed down and attempted to stay on the road. At this point, the suspect vehicle, steered towards me causing the
driver side of his trailer to collide with the passenger side of my vehicle. The driver of the suspect vehicle continued steering to
the left, ultimately forcing me off the road and into the culvert. Once I left the roadway and entered into the roadside ditch my
patrol vehicle flipped over and landed on its roof.
The approximate address of the culvert where my unit rolled over was in the 200 block of Foster Rd. My unit was fully disabled
causing approximately $10,000 in damages.
After my patrol unit rolled into the ditch, responding law enforcement units stopped to check on my well-being. However, due to
the amount of dirt and dust, the responding units behind the vehicles stopping to check on me could not see the units parked
on the road and rear-ended them. A White County Sheriff's Deputy unit, 2 Cleburne County Deputy units, and 1 Arkansas
Department of Agriculture unit were involved in the accident sustaining heavy and disabling damage.
The suspect vehicle continued for approximately 200 yards before the driver drove into a field and fled on foot. The Arkansas
State Police dispatched a helicopter to scan the area as well as the Calico Rock K-9 units. After an extensive search lasting
approximately 3 hours, the suspect was located and confirmed to be Robert Eddy. Eddy was placed into custody and
transported to the White County Detention Center for holding.
