CLEANING OUT THE SPIDER SHED! / ALLOTMENT GARDENING UK

[Music] hey everyone welcome back to the allotment Diaries hope you're all doing well welcome back to my allotment Diaries um this is my allotment plot here in South London I have two allotment plots and I just show you how I look after them basically on a day-to-day basis um we're now in November so there's lots of maintenance jobs to do at the moment so the more work that you put into your plot at this time of year the easier you'll find it in the spring and summer this is the time to do those really hard strenuous jobs to replenish your soil to put in the main kind of groundwork you know and then when it gets to the spring and summer you will find your allotment plots so much easier and you'll be so happy that you did all the hard work I took the longer walk round today to my alotment plot just to have a nosy at some of my favorite plots and see what they're looking like and I found something on the public pathway which I thought I'd just take because no one's using it if it's there do you know what I mean it's just rubbish this is what I found I don't I have no idea what it is I have no idea what it is is it sink or something it's got no hole I don't know it looks like it's made out of wood I don't know what it is but what I thought this would be really good for is growing carrots in and the sides are high enough to stop carrot fly cuz carrot fly can only like fly so high and I think I think it will protect against carrot fly so if I put it down hang on oh yeah so it's got no base to it it's just the sides it's basically a mini raised bed and I was thinking if I put that into an existing raised bed fill it right to the top carrots in it I reckon that is an excellent carrot grower purely based on the fact that I found an immediate use for it and I thought that would be good for that reason I brought it to the plot so I found that this morning and that's quite exciting in itself uh we're going to start by feeding the bird because I can hear him I can hear you yes I can hear you Glen Fango and then we're going to move on to the annual shed clear out today because it needs to be done uh and it's just a complete mess I'm hoping it won't be too much because actually I've kept it quite nice I've just it's mainly just like bags and stuff on the floor which just needs tidying up so I'm hoping this will not be a massive ordeal but I am aware that there is a deadly spider in there there's a forc black widow in there somewhere so I'm not I'm not looking forward to it um let's feed the bird first will you stop I can hear you what's this there you are oh my goodness I didn't expect you to come Einstein there you are wow I thought you'd be another noow look at [Music] you the situation of the shed is not good guys the situation is not good it's mainly just me um let me try and explain this to you throwing stuff in when I finish for the day cuz I'm tired I'm exhausted and there's nowhere to hang stuff there's nowhere to put stuff so I sort of put stuff in I think I'll deal with it next time when I get here and then I completely forget now it looks like that right we're going to start by taking everything [Music] out you going oh [Music] no why they eyes I've just found like a million googly eyes and I have no idea why they're here or what I'm going to do with them why do I have these I don't understand what is why is this got to do [Music] gardening right I put my gloves on now cuz this is starting to get a little bit risky now so what we're going to do we're going to do the bag in a bag trick there's a lot of bags here here so if I get this bag I've opened at the top I'm going to start putting the old bags in the bag bags and [Applause] bags love those bags the bag in the bag that's a good bag it's an excellent bag what a fantastic bag right it smells of uh garlic this bag smells really strongly of garlic that's weird isn't it it's not as bad as I first anticipated I was correct in thinking it's mainly just pots and bags so that's that's quite good but now we're getting to the point where we can see the floor and on the floor that's where all the critters are I'm actually just going to pause for a second and try and make an Escape Plan cuz if there's a spider in there and I run out the shed I need to know I've got somewhere I can run I need to like move this stuff right yeah that's quite a good Escape Plan it's just in case okay I'm not saying I'm going to have to run but you know that a massive one that was a massive one that's okay to run that's okay that's okay it's okay where did it go oh crap where did it go please please please just sitting there now he's just sitting there I can't do anything now cuz he's just bloody sitting there oh God I was just going to show you him and he's bloody gone isn't he that's the worst thing when you don't know where they are it's worse than knowing where they are I think there's probably quite a big one in that corner down there it's always floor level that's so traumatic I can't even go in here I'm so scared oh God please just don't just please oh God please don't please don't be there please please don't be there all right okay oh I can't do this every year I just can't do this anymore guys this is not going as bad as it normally does normally it goes a lot worse than this I'm sure if you've seen them before you know um but I'm actually in the shed I'm inside the shed so like already which is amazing I actually think this area of the shed has probably got more spiders than this area of the shed so we're just going to sort of start working through it I'm such a hoarder I keep all these plastic things I hate throwing plastic away I sort of think I'm going to keep it forever just take the waste you know but I don't know if I'm actually going to use it or not I don't know I don't really know just the thing is what is that what is that what is that EGS oh they're useful okay I'll keep those thank you the amount of pots I've got in here is literally insane like that's just one there's like more here there's like so many pots if anyone needs any pots please let me know cuz I got so many pots too many pots someone might say too many pots there's too many PLS too many many pots we need some more plants in here we need some more plants in here I don't know what all this is we are moving on to the desk area which one may argue is even worse than the floor area right I think that's bird food staple gun I am not an alcoholic by the way this is for putting on top of um like bamboo canes and stuff it I haven't used them for years that's useful keep that screwdriver I didn't know how a screwdriver that is useful we'll keep that this whole mess here this is just so embarrassing I'm just going to you know what I'm just going to do this all in the bin I don't know what it is all Staples we need those it has crossed my mind that like if I just kept my shed nice all year round I wouldn't have to go through this every year like that has genuinely genuinely crossed my mind quite a few times but I just I don't know I always start with very good intentions and it just ends up like this every single year and I don't really know why um I don't have the science behind it so it is what it is just have to learn to live with how I am as a human is there mugg in here what's there this in here what's this this in the bin no it's not useful oh sakes all these like little seed packs stuck to the table it's like that what's that thing called decupage de coupage got de coupage in my shed it's quite nice actually I'm going to keep that I think that's a feature right I don't know how to do this tray without crying so I think I'm just going to cry when I do it oh my God God why oh God God you see the bloody webs and everything I see the SP I'm yelling and screaming and swearing at the allotment plot and I know there's other people around on their plots today and they must think come an absolute psyo but I've hit a snag guys um there was a huge spider on the other side of that tray like tarantula sized spider and um I can't do anything else now and all this is out what am I supposed to do I don't think I can go back in there now this is a nightmare cuz someone please come and help me is that okay can someone just come and help me I don't know what to do I don't know what to do God I don't know what to do I'm going to hit it with a stick I'm going to hit it with a stick it's the only logical thing I can think to do right now is to hit that with a stick and hope spider just goes away can you please go away hello oh my God oh my God I can't do this I can't do this I can't even do it with a stick what if it jumps on the stick and runs down there and kills me what do I do I don't know what to do it you know what you can have it you can have that that can be yours just leave me alone you stay there I'll stay on my side right it's a truce okay that's the only thing I can think to do I have to get back in the shed now oh God I'm so sorry for the over Dramatics it's just a very stressful thing for me so it's always stressful every bloody year that I do this I'm going to make a broom out of my rake now this worked last time really well so I'm just going to wrap this around it so then we're just going to use this as a brim oh it's not working as well this time oh it's come shed it wow look at the difference right the annual shed clear up of 2024 is complete I think I did a pretty good job considering that half of this is now out of bounds that now belongs to the spider over there that's his area everything else pretty good going I would say that's not too bad got three bags of rubbish to take to the dump so I can do that the weekend um I found my um this thing I don't know what it's called an in Inferno in incinerator as an incinerator um I'm going to burn some stuff next week so that's something to look forward to [Music] oh no oh guys I'm not going show you but there's actually a dead route on the floor here I've walked past it about four times and I didn't even notice it it actually makes me feel really sad well bless him he obviously been caught by the fox or maybe Rocky the cat I don't know I'll just put it in the bushes over there maybe yeah maybe I'll just put it in the bushes over there yeah okay Le I get to use my new shovel it's not quite the first job I had envisioned with but there we go right guys I'm going to call it a day there cuz I've just had a very traumatic morning I need to go home and have a very strong cup of tea I think um I hope you've enjoyed the Vlog today I am going to be back on Monday um and we're going to be doing like a last minute tidy up before this film crew arrive and trying to make the plot look like it's thriving come on plot please just please just just the weekend can we can we keep alive I don't know if the Sprouts are going to survive I'm a little bit stressed about that but hopefully it'll be okay um but we'll do like a last minute little tidy up and uh probably have a couple of anxiety attacks and uh that would be just really good fun so join me again on Monday um and I'll see you then thanks so much for
