I honestly didn't think it would happen.
It's a different routine than we've been used to the last few years.
San Diego is where we wanted to settle down after we both retired from soccer.
To get the chance to do that while playing soccer is pretty special.
I'm someone that loves soccer, but it's not every part of my life.
I'm okay saying that.
I don't want to gorgle or miss a sitter and go home and still be the same person,
regardless of how I performed on the field.
This is totally a new area for me because as much as Serrano grew up in San Diego,
and Tijuana right across the border, I didn't come down to San Diego that often.
The city we live in and just the community,
it's kind of just like we actually are able to get to know the city in a bigger way than we've ever been able to.
Because this is where we see ourselves living for a very long time.
Surrounded by Charlie, dogs, beach, good weather.
I define home with the feeling of being settled and at peace.
We have to be patient.
Building a home or renovating a home just takes forever, but it's hard sometimes.
This is the house that will be our home.
But it's just a house right now.
We're going to quadruple those doors and make sliding doors.
And then this wall is completely going to be gone and we're going to have a kitchen island.
This is going to be the family room, basically.
And then right on the other side is a playground and a dog park and a lookout point.
I mean, obviously we have views, but it's cool to take the dogs and Charlie at sunset.
People are always coming in and out of our house.
So it's fun to just like always be surrounded.
Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go.
Go in a circle.
Go, go, go.
Come on, come on, come on.
Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go.
Hi.
Yeah, you're Ola. You want to get it, you're Ola?
No, baby. No, baby.
Thank you for the lotion on my foot. That was so nice of you.
Yeah, do you want some?
This definitely feels like we're making a home that we're proud of.
I'm at peace with myself more knowing that I am more than an athlete.
And I'm not like defined by what I do on the field or how many goals I score.
There's room to grow.
I mean, no one knows it all.
