Guillaume Bodinier, born in Angers on February 9, 1795, began his career studying law in Paris before shifting his focus to art. He trained under Jean Broc and Pierre-Narcisse Guérin at the École royale des beaux-arts. Bodinier spent five formative years in Italy, where he refined his style and developed a friendship with Camille Corot, with whom he explored genre painting and landscapes. His talent was recognized at the 1827 Salon, where he won a first-class medal for his painting *La Demande en mariage*. Later in life, Bodinier became the honorary director of the Angers Museum of Fine Arts, playing a vital role in the cultural life of his hometown."
