Cody Simpson, defensor del PNUD para el océano y cantautor; la Dra. Sylvia Earle, bióloga marina y oceanógrafa; Sahika Ercümen, campeona de buceo libre y defensora del PNUD para “Vida submarina”; y Nayantara Jain, bióloga marina y conservacionista, se unen al PNUD para que #SalvemosLosOcéanos y la vida submarina por el futuro de las personas y del planeta.
The ocean is alive. With every breath you take, every drop of water you drink,
you are connected to the ocean. The ocean is home to most of earth's biodiversity.
Coral reefs are not just beautiful to look at, they are vital to all life on earth,
including yours and mine. Yet coral reefs are moving faster towards extinction than
any other ecosystem on earth. When we pollute our beaches and seas,
we both harm our nature and put the sustainability of tourism at risk.
Marine life is unique, beautiful, and is home to some of the most stunning creatures on our planet.
Pollution, waste, marine litter, overfishing, invasive alien species, climate change,
are really causing a decline in marine life. Let's seize this moment, maybe the last moment
we have, to keep these vital ecosystems alive and healthy for generations to come.
No matter where on earth you live, if the ocean dried up tomorrow, well so would life on earth.
We need to protect the ocean as if our lives depend on it, because they do.
