Is the 10C EVO a good motovlog camera. This is a real world review of the Sena 10C EVO system. Know this before you buy. I've owned this system for 10 months and Ive learned a lot. This review may surprise you. Thanks for watching.
What is going on everybody it is the Full Throttle Hog coming back to you with another video and today
we are going to give you a breakdown of the Sena 10C Evo. We're just going to kind of take a look
10 months of using it and just give you my honest take so let's get into that right now. If this is
your first time here like I said welcome thank you for stopping by thank you for taking the time out
of your day to watch this video. On this channel we pretty much discuss everything motorcycle
related. We do product review, bike review, and we dabble into a little bit of a cinematic sequence
from time to time to make it a little bit more enjoyable. If you're into that type of thing and
you haven't already go ahead and hit subscribe down below hit that bell icon so you know every
single time we release a video. So for many people when they get into you know maybe possibly the
idea of motovlogging obviously we want to have the best functionality possible along with something
you know streamlined so having a communication system along with a camera is kind of the best
of both worlds you would think. However I will tell you there are things that I like about this
device and there's things that I absolutely hate about this device and we're going to get into
those. First let's just go over you know the basics I'm not going to go in depth about all its
capabilities you know there's plenty of videos out there you can search on your own
that'll have the full breakdown of the 10c evo system but you know the looks you know I do find
it you know like a good looking system on the side of the helmet it's not too big and bulky
and so you know for that you know I'm going to give it I'm going to give it an eight out of a
ten if I were to rate how I like the the look of it on a helmet. As far as the function buttons
you know all the dials here I do like how they have that set up you know it's just one of those
things where it's real easy to use once you get the dare I call it an algorithm down because each
function button is different you got one for the phone you got one for the camera and then if you
use both the same time you can turn in the dial there's a whole bunch of different functionalities
but I find it actually pretty easy to use while I'm just cruising down the road. Now once we get
into the durability of the unit let's let's be honest if you've watched some of these videos
I have put this thing through a torture test if you will when we were out in Sturgis
where we had rain heavy rain and hail I've had no problems with the unit or water getting in the
unit so for that I'm I'm actually pretty pleased there was some concerns where people were having
problems with senna's when they got a little bit of water on them but it was pretty torture
tested and I was happy with the end result. So one of the best features about this system
has got to be the microphone audio quality so I'm rocking a Simpson Ghost Bandit helmet which
for all intents and purposes is a very noisy helmet and compared to some of the other manufacturers
out there uh with that being said I do enjoy the the quality of the audio I get when I go back and
post edit um you know there's a few minor quirks here and there but I mean look we're going down
the road at between 40 and 80 miles an hour and I found it to be uh really clear I was I was pretty
happy with that and I don't think I would change a thing. So when you're looking for your motovlogging
setup I mean those are the things that are important the audio has to be just as good as the
video quality and sometimes I prefer to have the audio even better than the video quality to be
honest with you. But now let's get into the things that I absolutely cannot stand about this system.
The first thing is going to be the video quality. Now I understand this thing shoots in 4k uh and
that was the big push from the pro to the 10c evo but the picture quality itself is is not good.
I mean I can I can show you right here this is going to be unedited no color correction whatsoever
the picture itself is is oversaturated uh it's very contrasty and it just doesn't jive well
when I'm using a GoPro along with the Sena. So that's why when you watch some of my videos you
see very little from the Sena point of view because that picture quality is terrible uh
you know which leads me to the next thing which is they don't have any type of picture profile.
You know I would love it if they would come out and put a a picture profile where I could
film in flat if I wanted to because if I film in flat then I can go and when I do my color grading
uh kind of match it up a little bit better but there is zero options for that so it's very
limited. If I had to do it all over again uh seeing when I do projects with other riders and
collaborations I will tell you that the uh 10c pro is got a better picture quality I understand
that doesn't shoot in 4k shoots in 2.7 or 1440 and you know but for all intensive purposes you
know when you're going on to YouTube anything that's 1080 is going to be probably good enough
for that and I would probably go with the pro and ditch the Evo for right now I just do not
think that that that quality is there you know since we're talking about the video quality
the other thing is is there's not really any image stabilization and that image stabilization
you know obviously when you're riding a motorcycle you want to be looking left and right all the time
right you're always going to be aware of your surroundings because it's a safety thing
but if I want to do the first person view with the Sena and I'll show you right now like if I'm just
kind of keep an eye out or if I want to look over here real quick while I'm talking you know here
comes another motorcycle so I'm like hey let me see what kind of bike this is and make sure I
give him a wave he gives me a wave back you can see already that that motion is really jerky
and it's almost to the point where it would make me as a viewer uh just click away from the video
so obviously I want to avoid that so I just do not like that uh that capability of not having
any type of image stabilization to kind of smooth that out so on that I'm not too sure about the pro
in its image stabilization if it's if it's any different I'm I'm gonna be honest with you I
haven't had that much experience minus seeing other people's footage but yeah it's just uh
it's almost unusable if you were going to get a system that you were only going to use for vlogging
and you needed a one camera system it was just going to be a point of view camera system this
wouldn't work I will tell you right now I would not recommend it at all you know now let's kind
of go into the app the the Sena app in itself is really elementary in my opinion I mean you
just have basic functions there's just not that much control over anything that you need and
you know I'm hoping they invest some money in that in the future and try to get it up to par
you know obviously they're not going to get to the GoPro level at this point but I think they
could do a lot on the back end and things that would make this more usable so next I will tell
you that the sound speakers in the helmet okay so it's just not good I'm gonna tell you it's just
not good I have some padding around the ear wells which have little cutouts for speakers but there's
still some padding there with the Simpson helmet and it's just really low volume it's just not high
quality whatsoever so I would tell you that you know that was a big downer however there is some
good news Sena just released their high definition speakers which includes the 10c Evo unfortunately
either it hasn't really hit the market officially it's showing up on web pages but everybody says
out of stock so I don't know what's going on there but I do have a lookout for them here's
the part number for the 10c Evo to upgrade to the high definition speakers they're gonna run you
around $40 and I'm excited to get those because there's some other brands you could go with that
come with high def speakers right out of the box so me being into listening to music and I want to
have it clear and we already talked about my preference in audio but if I had to do this all
over again and I wasn't going to do you know have to focus on just having a camera system along with
my communication system I probably would have gone with a different brand maybe like a cardo
or something that has high def speakers already and then ran with the GoPro on the helmet now I
will tell you for future plans and I've already kind of ordered all the parts I am going to be
mounting the GoPro on the front of this helmet for my POV section I'll keep the audio from the
Sena but I'm that's how much I hate the audio quality from the Sena is I'm actually going to
get a mounting system to mount a GoPro so that I can bring a better quality video when I flip over
to the that point that first person point of view so you know that's the the thoughts right here so
all in all if you're looking at you know seriously getting into a moto vlog I highly recommend it
it's a lot of fun I think that you should probably research maybe doing a GoPro system from
Jump Street and if you have to go with a the 10c I would go with the pro just because that video
quality is just a lot better than the 10c Evo for some unknown reason but the baked in color
profile they have on here is just not good so I don't know that's that's pretty much it as far as
the 10c Evo you know it's great for the audio but I think that that I could achieve that if I went
with the GoPro system I'm just not a big fan of having like the battery packs and getting the
external pieces and you know weighing down your helmet I'm gonna have to do something to just
to bring all you better quality video but that's gonna do it today hopefully you guys enjoyed this
