Пространство кулис Большого театра во много раз превосходит зрительскую часть. Фактически в Историческом здании существует две взаимозаменяемые сцены – плоская и наклонная. В дни балетных спектаклей стелится специальный пол. В результате работ 2005-2011 гг в Большом театре было установлено новейшее световое оборудование; новые софиты, плунжера, верхние и нижние подъёмы, – одним словом, всё необходимое для воплощения и проведения современных музыкальных спектаклей.

The backstage space of the Bolshoi Theatre is far greater than the Front of House. Practically, there are two interchangeable stages in the Historic building – flat and raked. On the days of ballet performances, a special floor surface is laid. As a result of the works between 2005 and 2011, the Bolshoi Theatre had the latest lighting equipment installed; new spotlights, plungers, upper and bottom elevation – in other words, everything necessary to create and hold modern musical performances.
