Did you know in the film The Beast of War, the tank used is not just any ordinary vehicle.
It is an authentic Soviet T-55 tank.
The significance of this tank lies in its history, as it was captured by the Israel
Defense Forces during various Arab-Israeli conflicts.
To enhance realism even further, the filmmakers took special measures regarding how the tank's
cannon operates on screen.
Instead of using live ammunition, which would be dangerous and impractical for filming,
they modified 90mm blank shells.
These modifications allowed them to fire a weight of water from the tank's 105mm cannon.
When this occurs, the cannon experiences recoil similar to what would happen if it had fired
an actual live shell.
