Today I got it watch the breathtaking Royal Barge Procession glide down the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok! 🌊 This event, honoring the King’s 72nd birthday, showcased a magnificent fleet of 52 royal barges, each carrying stunning craftsmanship and centuries of tradition.
From my spot near Rama VIII Bridge, I could feel the anticipation building as the barges, manned by over 2,000 skilled oarsmen, appeared in perfect formation. The energy was electric as the rhythmic rowing and chants filled the air, echoing the rich heritage of Thailand. Each barge, from the Suphannahong to the Anantanagaraj, was like a moving piece of art, adorned with intricate designs that glistened in the sunlight.
Being part of this moment with so many others along the riverbanks was unforgettable. There’s just something magical about witnessing a tradition that bridges Thailand’s past and present, and it was a powerful reminder of the country’s cultural heartbeat.
