Ladies and gentlemen, these next two contestants are at the top of the food
chain. This match has been over 15 years brewing on the stove. Turn it off and let
one of them serve up a huge bowl of whoop ass. Climbing his way to the top, our first
competitor from the United States of America, Todd Zillah.
All right, this is what we've all been waiting for, Todd Zillah, Todd Hutchings. If there
is a guy who's known for grit, for the ability to just force a match to the pin, side pressure
king, it's this guy, Todd Hutchings. Long time training partner of John Brzenk, international
superstar. Slightly the shorter man, slightly the smaller man. Probably the more conditioned
man. The favor starts to switch to his favor any time the match will stop.
Today, his challenger, friend or foe, we will let the table decide. He is, without a doubt,
living up to every aspect of the nickname, G.O.A.T. It gives me incredible honor to introduce
the one, the only, John Brzenk.
This is our champion. Greatest of all time, John Brzenk, making his way to the table.
Massive match between these two athletes. Massive match. These two guys have a lot between
each other. This is for the 105 number one ranking in North America right here today.
This is definitely a big match. These guys have a lot of history together. John, slightly
taller, a little bit heavier.
This is their first super match, if I'm correct.
I believe so.
This has never happened.
They've met each other in tournaments before where they've had to pull multiple rounds
against each other.
But this match is a match that the world of armwrestling has been asking for for over
a decade. And here we get to see it right now.
Both guys being pretty nice to set up.
Bring the shoulder in for me. You're driving back, but I see that. Leave it there. Wrist
here. Wrist here. I need this wrist. Ready? Go.
Right into the straps. No big surprise.
Oh, if this match stops in round one, it gets very interesting.
John Brzenk has to be thinking, take the hand and smoothly get into a press position or
just follow it through all the way to the pad.
Todd Hutchings will surely try and wedge his frame into that elbow pad to get a stop anywhere,
anyhow.
The longer it stops, the more it starts to shift.
John Brzenk known for his efficiency and his technique.
You have to think that he will find the path to that pad smoothly in round one.
John's ability to roll his shoulder over into the match if it stops might be the difference
if Todd does get that stop.
Wrist. Ready? Go.
Oh, we have a war. This is going to be ugly and messy.
It is going to be an ugly and messy day.
Todd Hutchings, we have center of the table. John Brzenk has pronation.
Not enough to finish the match. John Brzenk shaking with intensity.
Hutchings biting it and we have a first round win from Todd Hutchings.
Man, I cannot call this. John Brzenk is in trouble.
John Brzenk is in trouble.
Absolutely. It is very tough to let Todd Hutchings get up on you in the early rounds
with the endurance that Todd has.
My, oh my. I cannot believe what we are witnessing.
The student may have become the teacher.
Into the straps.
A very, very meaningful match for both of these athletes.
Very impressive from Todd.
That quick explosive start even without his hand.
Impressive stuff. Biting his time. Edging forward.
Endurance will become a factor.
Already seeing the heavy breathing from John Brzenk.
Todd looking comfortable and focused.
They are ready to come back to the table for round two.
What does John have to do differently here?
John Brzenk has to have a little bit more cup I think.
He had his pronation.
However, he did not get any significant cup or shoulder involvement in the match.
And if you cannot pull Todd Hutchings onto your side of the table
or expose his bicep, you are in for a very difficult match.
Needs to turn Todd Hutchings' palm upwards
or at least pull him more onto his side of the table.
I think a big key for him is going to be able to do that quickly.
Todd Hutchings jumped all over that first start
and immediately brought the attack to John.
I think John has to get onto that offensive attack
right away when that ref yells go.
I'll tell you, John Brzenk is in trouble.
He is in some trouble.
Todd Hutchings may start to run away with this match.
Whenever Todd Hutchings leads early, it typically gets much worse.
John Brzenk at this point in his career not known for his endurance.
Well, we are going to find out in just a second here
if John can make any of those adjustments
that he is going to need to make in between these rounds
if he wants to keep up with that side pressure of Todd Hutchings.
Getting ready to start round two.
Oh no!
Great position from Todd Hutchings here.
So close to that pin pad.
John Brzenk will have to climb out of this one.
It will be very difficult for him to climb out of this.
He will have to get his hand in some kind of a better position
but the longer he stays here, the longer Todd Hutchings'
famous endurance comes more into play.
Win number two, Todd Hutchings.
And Todd real sneaky moving his elbow forward
to get his cut back before executing that pin.
Todd Hutchings, the definition of hard work.
This man has worked his way to where he is.
Intelligently broken down arm wrestling
becomes stronger, more efficient in all of his moves
compromising John Brzenk's hand
and the position of the match on the table.
Controlling off the start every match
and then turning it into an endurance war
where he is bleeding out John Brzenk right at the pin line.
Very difficult for John Brzenk to come back at this point.
He is going to have to try something.
If he is not able to maintain his hand
and Todd is able to just get through him with that sideways pressure
John might need to come in and meet him inside.
He is going to have to.
There has to be a change from John Brzenk.
I don't know if he has the ability to do so
because you see the cup is failing on John Brzenk
after they say go.
His wrist is being bent back
and the match is moving towards Todd Hutchings
both in forward and back aspect
and in left and right aspect.
Todd is taking control of just about everything.
The only thing I was maintaining on John was his pronation
and clearly not enough to get through Todd Hutchings with this.
I would like to see him try bringing his shoulder forward
and just try to meet him in the middle.
Round three of potentially seven.
However, this is first to four.
The buckle on Todd Hutchings' hand where John Brzenk prefers it.
Very meaningful match for the arm wrestling world
and between these two as long time training partners.
Todd Hutchings winding up for that hit
and blasting into John Brzenk's wrist.
Control in the center.
He is going to be comfortable to wait here.
Boring all the way to the pad.
Just relentless driving pressure from Todd Hutchings.
Very big match.
Up against the wall.
John Brzenk in the corner.
Wow, what a match.
These guys both were in a not bad spot
where they could put rubber on the road.
Forcing and shaking.
Just relentless driving attack.
Would not let up at all.
We may be looking at the new number one
in the 105 kg division.
He told me that he is cutting to the 95 kg division
which is definitely a better division for him.
Walking at 220 kg.
Cut to the 209 kg.
Perfect division for Todd Hutchings.
He will be very, very hard to beat at 95 kg.
Yet in this match securing his spot at the 105 kg.
The top end of arm wrestling right here.
95 kg.
That would be quite the task for anybody
to try to deal with that type of side pressure
in the 95 kg.
Yeah, very difficult.
And when you think how long can you arm wrestle?
Look to these gentlemen right here.
Both in their 50s.
Todd is still in his 50s, right?
Yeah.
How old is Todd?
Do you know?
What do we got here for stats?
57?
Yeah, Todd is 57.
John is 58.
So Todd Hutchings potentially still improving as an athlete
at 57 years of age which is just incredible.
You put that work in, you can go with this for a long time.
You can stay healthy.
And these guys are proving it.
These guys both look absolutely incredible.
Here we go.
Ready to start the final round potentially.
Oh my, oh my.
I can't believe what I've witnessed here.
But listen, I got to go.
I got a match coming up.
That's right.
I'm pulling Sergey Kalinchenko right now.
Evan, over to you, buddy.
We'll let you get out of here.
And then we will, I will have the pleasure of calling this
match a view by myself.
Absolutely incredible stuff from Todd Hutchings here.
Four straight matches.
All four straight sideways with that final one being an absolute
blast to go straight through John for the win.
Todd Hutchings in round one just straight side pressure.
John Brzenk's cup not being able to maintain.
Just relying on his pronation and his arm strength to hold
Todd Hutchings' attack off.
And Todd's just relentless with that side pressure attack.
Each round we see the same thing happening.
Todd Hutchings faster than John off the go and just relentless with
that side pressure attack.
And John just was not able to get any other part of his hand engaged
to stop Todd Hutchings' side pressure.
And for the final round, Todd Hutchings just absolutely blasting
through the greatest of all time, John Brzenk.
Hey, everybody.
Welcome back.
I'm up here on stage with John Brzenk.
John, unfortunately, it didn't go the way you wanted.
4-0 for Todd.
Can you dive into it a bit?
Tell us what happened.
Well, I knew what I was getting myself into.
I mean, Todd, we've been training together for 10 years, so I knew
his side pressure was the best in the game.
I wanted to try to knock him off center a little bit and get hand
advantage.
That was going to be my only chance.
But he was very aggressive, very explosive, and got me off center.
So couldn't get back from it.
I had decent hand position, but his side pressure is so tight,
so strong.
I know you guys have both been training like crazy for this.
Were you able to change anything quick enough to come back,
or was it just not happening today?
You know, it's really tough to change anything after the first
or second match because your hand and wrists are so blown up.
So the options kind of go out the window.
You're kind of stuck with trying to continue to do what you did
in the first couple matches.
I mean, the very final match, I tried to maybe, like,
a little glimmer of thought went in my head, like,
maybe I control the roll him.
But that was a very bad choice.
It made things worse.
So, yeah.
Understandable.
Well, on behalf of everybody here, I know we may never get to see
this match again.
Thank you very much.
John Verzink, everyone.
All right.
And our winner today, ladies and gentlemen, Todd Zillah.
Todd Hudson's 4-0.
Congratulations, Todd.
You have been training like crazy.
I know the last few months you have been on a tear.
How are you feeling?
I know you must just be over the moon right now.
I mean, everything's dumping, but I'm surprised, happy,
and relieved all in equal measure.
I can't even imagine how you feel.
So you're at the top right now.
Where do you see yourself going?
Because I think you're taking off.
I don't want to know who's pulling you next.
They must be scared.
I'm just going to stand up here and be scared of everybody
coming up.
It's a lot easier to climb a mountain than stand on it.
And now to defend it, too.
So, ladies and gentlemen, Todd Zillah, I'm going to let you rest.
I know you are exhausted.
Thanks.
Todd Zillah, everybody.
