Both #Trump & #Harris are making their final push. Trump held a massive rally at Madison Square Garden. Democratic candidates run all over the swing states. Today, President #JoeBiden voted early in his hometown. Meanwhile, Trump said he received a phone call from #Google. Here's what Pichai told him!
Hello all you freedom loving people.
Welcome to another episode of Front Page, I'm your host Scott Cameron Goulet.
With less than 10 days until election day, candidates from both parties are making their
final push.
President Trump held a huge rally in the Democratic stronghold of New York at Madison Square Garden
and Democratic candidates are running all over swing states.
The Democratic New York Mayor Eric Adams dismissed the comparison of President Trump to Hitler
saying that he wants the U.S. to set an example of democratic campaigning for the world.
After Israel's retaliatory bombing of Iran, Iran doesn't seem intent on escalating the
situation.
Okay, let's get into it.
With the upcoming presidential election, the swing states are in the spotlight.
Voter partisanship is changing in two key battleground states, Arizona and Nevada, according
to Redfin.
These two swing states border the admittedly deep blue state of California.
In recent years, California has seen a massive population shift out of the state.
More than one third of the people moving out of California have flowed into these two states.
But Arizona has lost more than 186,000 registered Democrats since the last presidential election
and Nevada has lost 54,000 Democratic voters, while Republican voters have not lost but
gained nearly 800.
Meanwhile, in both states, independent voters have surged.
Voter registration data as of April of 2024 showed that Arizona has added 37,000 independent
voters since the 2020 election.
This represents 35.3% of all registered voters, which is nearly equal to Republican voters.
And Nevada added hundreds of thousands of independent voters, far more than either Democrats
or Republicans.
Since Biden's announcement that he was dropping out of the presidential race, many speculated
that Harris's entry would boost registration among Democratic voters in Arizona and Nevada.
But Redfin found that at least as of the end of July, none of the expected scenarios have
materialized.
On Sunday, President Trump held a large rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
In the final stretch of the presidential campaign's time is of the essence for the candidates,
New York has long been considered a Democratic stronghold.
President Trump's rally at Madison Square Garden was highly publicized.
The event was held at a first-come, first-served basis and sold out within hours of the announcement.
Madison Square Garden is home to the New York Knicks and the New York Rangers.
It seats nearly 20,000 people.
The arena was fully packed with tens of thousands of people surrounding the arena outside.
It's no wonder the campaign said in a press release that this epic event will showcase
the historic political movement that President Trump has built in the final days of his campaign.
Before 8 a.m., nine hours before the start of the rally, a large number of people had
already lined up outside the rally site.
Guests at the event included political icons, celebrities, musical artists and speakers
from President Trump's friends and family.
They all emphasized why President Trump is the best person to address the issues at hand.
A roster of big names delivered speeches before President Trump took the stage, including
Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Tucker Carlson, Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO Dana White, Dr.
Phil, former Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., former Democratic Congresswoman
Tulsi Gabbard, House Speaker Mike Johnson, radio host Sid Rosenberg and former Mayor
Rudy Giuliani.
Former First Lady Melania Trump also made a rare appearance at the rally to support
her husband.
In his speech, President Trump promised to make America affordable again.
If I win, we will quickly build the greatest economy in the history of the world, which
is what we had in our last term.
We will rapidly defeat inflation and we will very simply make America affordable again.
We're going to make it affordable.
I will massively cut taxes for workers and small businesses and we will have no tax on
tips, no tax on overtime and no tax on social security benefits for our seniors.
And I'm announcing a new policy today that I will support a tax credit for family caregivers
who take care of a parent or a loved one.
It's about time that they were recognized, right?
They add so much to our country and are never spoken of ever, ever, ever, but they're going
to be spoken of now.
Thank you all very much.
Even though New York has not voted for a Republican presidential candidate in 40 years, a rally
in New York City will not only help boost President Trump's vote share, but it will
At Sunday's rally, President Trump also mentioned a little secret and he said it would help
the GOP gain ground in this race and maintain GOP control of the House.
We got to get the senators elected because we can take the Senate pretty easily.
And I think with our little secret, we're going to do really well with the House, right?
Our little secret is having a big impact.
He and I have a secret.
We'll tell you what it is when the race is over.
On the same day that President Trump was reaching into the Democratic heartland, his rival Kamala
Harris continued to canvas swing states.
On Sunday, Harris traveled to West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to speak at an African-American
church.
Later, Harris visited a barbershop and a Puerto Rican restaurant.
Vice President, thank you so much for coming and being with us to have this conversation
at an inside barbershop.
Indeed, that's where all the truth gets spoken, that's where the news gets shared.
And you know, we're kind of breaking the code.
We got you at a barbershop, you know, it's a little private.
Not my first time.
Okay, I'm just saying, we got you in here today.
Walls headed to Las Vegas for a bus tour.
Walls also attended a rally to encourage early voting in the Native American and Latino communities.
And regarding early voting, as of today, more than 45 million Americans have cast mail-in ballots
or have voted early in person so far.
And today, President Joe Biden voted early in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware.
He was accompanied by Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester, who was running for Senate.
President Biden waited in line for more than 30 minutes before voting.
And after voting, he responded, this is sweet, when asked if it felt bittersweet.
A segment of radical Democrats recently tried to link President Trump to Hitler.
The Democratic National Committee projected the words,
Trump praised Hitler outside the event.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams told reporters on Saturday
that he does not believe President Trump is a fascist.
I have had those terms hurled at me by some political leaders in the city.
These are terms like Hitler and fascists.
My answer is no.
I know what Hitler has done, and I know what a fascist regime looks like.
I think, as I've called over and over again, that the level of conversation,
I think we could all dial down the temperature.
And I've heard people say that the former president should not be able to have a rally in Madison Square Garden.
I strongly disagree. This is America. This is New York.
And I think it's important that we allow individuals to exercise their right to get their message clear to New Yorkers.
And our job as a city and as a police department is to make sure they can do that in a peaceful way.
It's also been commented that the strongest refutation of the charge that President Trump is like Hitler
is that President Trump was not a dictator during his first four years in office.
On the contrary, President Trump was held back from doing much by establishment Republicans.
Mayor Adams called on both sides of the race to treat each other with respect
and to lower the flames of the attacks.
I think that we must be extremely cautious.
The heat we turn up today, pre-election, is going to have to be the heat we're going to have to govern.
And I think we need to show a level of respectable communication.
And so when people called me fascist and other terminologies, I didn't like it.
I don't think it's fitting to anyone to state that the former president is equal to being Hitler.
I just think that this is a city where we have the largest Jewish population.
Anti-Semitism is on the rise nationally.
We need to do everything we can to push back on that level of anti-Semitic tone and anti-Semitic issues that we're facing in the city.
Let's have a safe, fair, democratic process and show the globe how we're able to do it correctly.
At the Madison Square Garden rally, President Trump also retold the story of his recent phone call from Google CEO Sundar Pichai.
He said that he received a phone call from Pichai after working at the McDonald's in Pennsylvania.
Pichai told him that the coverage of his campaign at the McDonald's restaurant had generated a lot of internet traffic.
President Trump said, I got a call from Sundar, a very smart guy at Google.
He called and he said, we've had more hits on McDonald's and I think he said anything we've ever had, but let's say it's close.
In fact, not only Pichai, but other major tech executives have recently reached out to President Trump in order to meet with the potential future president before the election.
President Trump revealed in an interview on Thursday that he discussed the legal problems that the iPhone maker is facing in Europe with Apple CEO Tim Cook last week.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy also had reached out to President Trump.
As we've previously reported, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also spoke with President Trump on the phone after the assassination attempt this summer.
Zuckerberg praised President Trump's handling of the incident and he wished President Trump a speedy recovery.
Although their relationship had been strained at one point, they have expressed their appreciation for each other in public in recent months.
On Saturday, President Trump also received support from Arab and Muslim community leaders at a rally in Novi, Michigan.
Good afternoon, Michiganders. As the president said, we just had a positive meeting with President Trump.
We as Muslims stand with President Trump because he promises peace.
He promises peace, not war.
We are supporting Donald Trump because he promised to end war in the Middle East and Ukraine.
The bloodshed has to stop all over the world and I think this man can make that happen.
Israel carried out three waves of airstrikes against Iran in the early hours of Saturday local time.
These strikes hit a number of Iranian military targets including missile manufacturing plants and air defense facilities.
Four soldiers were reported killed.
The Israeli military announced Saturday's operation shortly after explosions were reported in Iran.
IDF Spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said the military had demonstrated its preparedness to defend the State of Israel.
He also warned if Iran started a new round of escalation, Israel would be obliged to respond.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel had crippled Iranian air defense and missile production systems.
He said that the strikes had severely damaged Iran's defense capabilities and its ability to produce missiles.
Israel claimed that its F-35 fighters entered Iran's airspace for the first time in raids.
Reportedly, four S-30 air defense batteries that were in strategic locations and that protected Tehran and their nuclear and energy facilities in Iran were attacked.
Those were the Russian-made defense systems.
The Iranian Foreign Minister said on Sunday that Iran had received indications about the impending attack hours before it took place.
However, Netanyahu's office denied that prior to the attacks, Israel sent Iran a message revealing certain details about the strikes and warning Tehran not to respond.
Now Iran faces the dilemma of whether to fight back.
Iran now faces huge economic problems and its military is vulnerable.
If Iran were to strike back at Israel under these circumstances, it would likely descend into a protracted and costly war.
But if Iran does not attack, it could be seen as weak by regional allies and domestic hardliners.
Tehran broadcast only ordinary television programs on the day of the attack and they made no immediate statement of significant retaliation.
This appears to be an attempt to minimize the impact of the attack.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry reiterated its right and duty to defend itself, but it also added its responsibility for regional peace and security.
On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the Israeli airstrikes dealt a serious blow to Iran's defense and missile production.
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei said that the damage caused by the Israelis should not be exaggerated or downplayed.
While he said that Iran was considering a response, he did not promise immediate retaliation.
Khamenei also opened a Hebrew account on X on Saturday night.
However, his account was suspended after only two posts.
The latest post from Sunday read,
The Zionist regime made a mistake and erred in its calculation regarding Iran.
We will make it understand what power, ability, initiative and desire the Iranian nation has.
At the same time, the New York Times reported that Khamenei, who is 85, is said to be seriously ill and that his son, Majd Tabah, may take over the reins of power when he dies.
Following the death of Ruhollah Khomeini, the first Supreme Leader of Iran in 1989, Khamenei has been the Supreme Leader ever since.
The report notes that Khamenei's serious health condition has triggered a quiet struggle over his succession.
The possible succession of his son has also caused internal unrest.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards have an important say in the succession issue and they are seen as more willing to confront Israel.
Meanwhile, the world reacted to the strike.
President Biden said that Israel had only struck military targets in its attack on Iran and that he hoped they were the end.
Lloyd Austin spoke to his Israeli counterpart, Yoav Galant.
Austin reaffirmed the ironclad commitment of the U.S. to Israel's security and their right to self-defense.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stressed that Israel has the right to defend itself from Iranian attacks.
He also said,
I'm equally clear that we need to avoid further regional escalation and urge all sides to show restraint.
Iran should not respond.
The U.N. Security Council has agreed to hold an emergency session at Tehran's request following the attack.
Council President from Switzerland said that Iran requested the meeting with the support of Algeria, China and Russia.
And that's a wrap for this episode.
