This is Bach's famous tenor cantata recorded during a concert of the workshop "Die Bachkantate" at the ZHdK on the 5th March 2020. An ensemble of music students from the Zurich University of Arts playing historical instruments and Maximilian Vogler, tenor, are performing under the direction of Michael Biehl the famous tenor cantata BWV 55 "Ich armer Mensch, ich Sündenknecht" by Johann Sebastian Bach.

J. S. Bach wrote the cantata, a solo cantata for a tenor, in 1726 in Leipzig for the 22nd Sunday after Trinity. It is Bach's only extant cantata for tenor, and he led the first performance himself on 17 November 1726.
