Yule log is considered a Christmas classic for a reason. In this video, I share two versions of this amazing festive dessert. Whether you opt for a traditional Bûche de Noël
or a less conventional vertical version, this cake will undoubtedly bring cheer to your celebration.
The ingredients for a classic chocolate yule log
Chocolate Swiss roll sponge:
- 3 eggs
- 65g sugar
- pinch of salt.
- 30g flour
- 8g cocoa
- 1 tsp coffee powder
Stabilized whipped cream:
- 200ml heavy cream
- 1 tbsp powdered sugar
- 4g gelatin
- water
- 1 tbsp of Amaretto/cognac/brandy/rum
Whipped chocolate ganache:
- 200g dark chocolate
- 100g butter
- 100g heavy cream
The ingredients for a vertical Bûche de Noël
Quick and easy vanilla sponge cake:
- 2 eggs
- 120g sugar
- 90ml water
- 190g flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
Cream cheese frosting:
- 100g butter
- 50g powdered sugar
- 50g cocoa powder
- 400g creme cheese
Whipped chocolate ganache:
- 200g dark chocolate
- 100g butter
- 100g heavy cream
- sweetened coffee for the assembly
