50 Ridiculously Good Returns by Roger Federer
Wow, obviously. Look how far he jumps in the court here.
They're stepping around and just smacking that forehand return.
So much time.
Oh, look out. Oh, come on. Called it, large left, called it out.
And Roger can just laugh because that thing was on the line.
There it is, a winning return and Federer gets the first break of the match.
Make that decision before the opposition has made contact with the ball.
Oh, kitchen sink and the washing machine.
Wow.
Hadn't even moved, didn't take a single step to try and track that one down.
And same again.
God, I want to see a hat trick. Serve to the forehand.
Serve was of a good enough quality. Federer there pushed wide of the single sideline,
only just managing to get the ball over the net. It was absolutely nowhere near it because he
certainly wasn't expecting one as good as that. Blistering and brilliant from Federer.
And for the first time, a break point against the Italian serve. What a time to nail this.
No need to get back in the court if you're going to hit the return like that.
What a return. A phenomenal forehand from Federer.
His serve has been effective all week and there was nothing wrong with that.
That is absurd from Roger Federer. How on earth has he got that return back like that? Just
swatting it back at 37 years of age, giving a whole new definition to the term reflexology.
Creative with that defensive stab. That's not the technique you want to work on for a return.
You get fooled. He didn't quite get around it. Kept the ball in play and somehow
positioned himself in front of the baseline after hitting that shot.
Look at that. Takes that one about six inches from the service line.
A couple of days ago, that sort of return,
taking the ball virtually on the half of the second serve.
136 on the serve from Kyrgios. Federer stabs it. That's been his mantra this evening, hasn't it?
Up on top of the bounce and a beautifully timed one-hander.
I don't come any sweeter than that, or perhaps more important than that as well.
Oh, that's too good. Simply too good. That's a ridiculous return of serve.
Volley barely made it inside the baseline and it was flying past him.
15-0. Oh, that is extraordinary. Completely offsides this when you
think you've had a decent serve right back at you. Yes, some return. An absolute stunner.
What a return. Oh, what a return.
What a return. Oh, now that's one way to get to match point. He's got him with a wonderful return.
How good was that? Oh, yes. One of those serves and volleys where you can get about three steps
inside the baseline and it was flying past you. Yeah, exactly. Couldn't even get it racking into
position. Alert to those today, Sosa. But it's such a smart thing to do. That's genius. But watch
when this ball bounces. If you can see it from this angle, it bounces almost
straight left. Had a lot of side spin on it.
