Medicare Supplement Plan F - Not worth it anymore?
2 Video Views·Oct 27, 2024
Out of all the Medicare supplement plans available,
there is one that has reigned supreme,
the heavyweight of them all, Medicare Supplement Plan F.
Stick around, I'll talk about if you even qualify
to enroll in Plan F, as well as if you have one now,
how to save money.
So I'll start with that qualifying part,
because I don't want to waste your time.
Make sure you're on the right video.
If you have enrolled in Medicare
on or after January 1st of 2020,
I'm sorry, you can't enroll in a Medicare Plan F.
What you should do is either scroll down
if you're on my website right now,
or if you're on YouTube,
click over to my Medicare Supplement Plan G video.
Now, for you folks who have enrolled in Medicare
prior to January 1st of 2020,
you are still eligible to enroll in a Plan F,
or if you've got a Plan F now,
you're actually eligible to switch.
Now, if you do apply to switch with a different company
for a different Plan F,
obviously you have to go through medical underwriting
and get approved.
Why would you want to consider switching?
Well, Medicare Supplement Plans are standardized.
Every company has the same Plan F,
but they all charge different rates for it.
We, just this week,
we're now in the Medicare open enrollment period,
we have saved people hundreds, if not thousands,
quite a few people switching
to a lower-cost Medicare Plan F with a different company.
But more on that later.
Let's talk a little bit about why Plan F
is still one of the most popular plans,
especially for people who are already enrolled in Medicare.
Medicare Part A and B, also called Original Medicare,
is the core of Medicare, Part A being hospitalization
and Part B being doctor's services as to what they cover.
Those have gaps in them or expenses
that you're required to pay, as you likely know.
Well, Medicare Plan F is the granddaddy of them all,
comes in, pays 100% of the gaps
or expenses of Part A and Part B.
This means no co-pays to pay, no deductibles,
and no coinsurance, as you likely know,
if you've been using your Plan F.
However, if you have been paying for your Plan F
every month, which I hope you have been,
then you know it's pretty expensive.
So there are a couple of different options
for people who do have Plan F now to save them money,
especially in today's economy.
We have a lot of people calling us all day, in fact,
saying, what else do you got?
Now, it may be the best choice for you, it may not be.
We will also check to see if you can qualify to switch.
We represent all the top companies,
we're an independent broker, so we can see
with the different underwriting guidelines of each company,
if you qualify to switch to a different plan.
However, big reason is, number one, like I said,
saving money.
All these companies have the same coverage,
they've got the same Plan F,
but also some other choices we could look at,
maybe you're interested in that,
such as a Medicare Supplement Plan G.
Plan G is very close to your Plan F
in the fact that it pays 100% coverage
after you pay the Part B deductible.
So currently, if you've got a Medicare Supplement Plan F,
it's paying the deductible for you.
We're in 2023 now, that deductible amount is changing
to $226.
So again, Medicare Part B covers doctor services.
Prior to them paying 80% of your medical bills,
you need to pay the Part B deductible.
People on Plan F might be saying, well, gee,
I don't ever pay that.
Well, you do, because you're paying a higher premium
for Plan F for them to write the check
with your money to pay the Part B deductible.
Well, with Medicare Supplement Plan G,
you pay the deductible yourself, again, that $226.
Then after that, Medicare pays 80%
and Plan G will come in and pay 100%
of the rest of the gaps in Medicare,
leaving you with no other medical bills.
So why is that a good idea?
Well, lower rates,
and often lower rate increases every year.
So your premiums are gonna be less.
In fact, if you do have a Plan F now,
very good chance you're paying much higher
than $226 in extra premiums
just to get that deductible paid for you.
In fact, I enrolled a gentleman off Plan F.
He came on to Plan G just yesterday,
and he was paying close to $350 a month for his Plan F,
and we got him down to about 160 on Plan G.
So he was paying about $500 extra a year
to get a $226 benefit.
Makes no sense.
And he agreed, thankfully, and now he's saving money.
So we would love to save you money as well.
Again, Medicare Supplement Plan F, fantastic plan,
100% coverage, and you can keep it
if you're already enrolled in one,
and I encourage you to if you'd like that.
However, let us shop the rates.
Maybe there's a Plan F out there
with a different company for lower premiums,
or we can talk about Medicare Supplement Plan G,
or maybe even Medicare Supplement Plan N,
and we can answer any questions you might have on that.

who actually shows you the rates online.
So you can compare your Plan F rates online.
If you see lower premiums, then we should definitely talk,
see if we can get you approved.
So thanks again for watching.
