Hi and welcome to Next Edge Tutorials. In this lesson today I'm going to be showing you a deep
edge workout. So in this deep edge workout we're going to be looking at five different exercises
going around the rink two times. The first lap is just going to be getting into the exercise.
The second one you're going to see me add a little bit more upper body. You might feel your legs burn
but this is the point of the exercises. So the first exercise we're going to be looking at are
forward inside edges. So I'm going to go down the ice pressing into those edges inside. Press,
push, press. Really getting the knee and ankle action working. Now we're going to use our upper
body a bit more. I'm doing a push, pushing through. Good. Let's go around one more time.
Now with our upper body push and press. Push, press. Push, press. And we're at the end.
Nice finish. Now I definitely feel my legs burn. We just kept it super simple with forward inside
edges. I made sure that I push and press that edge. Let it come around. As you can see the first one
I kept my upper body just nice and relaxed and then on the second line I added arms.
So before we jump into this next exercise I want you to check out the link below in the description
for your free training plan. This is something that I want you to just give a look over because
it might help you out if you find yourself standing around on the ice watching other skaters
going, oh maybe I should be doing this or maybe I should be doing that. It's just going to help
get organized off the ice before even getting on the ice so you know what you're doing.
Now we are ready for our second exercise and this one is going to be forward cross rolls.
I'm making sure that I'm pressing that outside edge, outside edge. Now I'm going to use arms here
and they're just going to pull up and press down and pull up and press down.
Now we're ready to go around one more time and just arms out focusing on that outside edge
pressure. Now we're going to use our arms again pulling up, pressing them down, pulling them up
and pressing them down. So that is our second exercise focusing on that outside edge.
Now for our third exercise the crossover inside edge. So I'm going to go crossover,
inside edge, crossover, inside edge, crossover, inside edge. But now we're going to use our
upper body a bit more. Crossover, up and over and up. Crossover, up. Crossover, up. Crossover,
up and through. Crossover, up and through. Again one more lap. Crossover, inside edge.
Crossover, inside edge. Now we're going to use our arms again. Crossover, stretch. Crossover,
stretch. Crossover, stretching through. Crossover, stretching through. So that's our third exercise.
I've taken a crossover and a nice deep inside edge. Crossover, nice deep inside edge. And you
should by now feel those legs burning because I absolutely do. Now we're ready for our fourth
exercise. We're going to go down the ice with a chasse into an outside edge. We're going to go
chasse, outside edge. Chasse, outside edge. Chasse, outside edge. Chasse, outside edge. Chasse,
outside edge. Now we're going to use our upper body a bit more. So I'm going to go chasse,
outside edge. Chasse, outside edge. Chasse, outside edge. Chasse, outside edge. And we're
going to keep this going. Now we're going to use our upper body. So again down the first straight
away I just kept the arms normal. Down the second straight away I tried to use my upper body a bit
more just to get those arms involved. So this is our final exercise. We're going to be doing
crossover with some nice inside edges. So I'm going to start off. I'm going to go forward
crossover. I'm going to go inside edge, inside edge, inside edge, then crossover the other way.
Inside, inside, inside, forward crossover. Inside, inside, inside, forward crossover.
Inside, inside, inside. Now we're going to use our upper body a bit more. So we're going to go
crossover. One, two, three, then crossover the other way. One, two, three, then I'm going to
do a forward crossover. Inside, inside, inside, forward crossover. Inside, inside, inside.
Okay, now for the last lap we're going to just pull up in the upper body and we're going to go
crossover. One, two, three, forward crossover. One, two, three, forward crossover. One, two, three.
Now this side we're going to use our upper body a bit more. So I'm going to pull up and I'm going
to go forward crossover. One, two, three, forward crossover. Inside, inside, inside, forward crossover.
One, two, three, forward crossover. One, two, three, and nice exit. As you probably noticed
after all of the exercises, I like to finish with an exit. Normally I will do mohawk or c-step push
back landing. So I show this landing position. I step forward and hold just so that we're always
reinforcing our landings because I use them all the time out of jumps and out of spins.
All right, there you have it. That is your deep edge exercises. Please make sure you take breaks
in between them. That way you're not doing 10 laps and your technique winds up getting compromised.
So take breaks, have good technique throughout, focus on those deep edges, and also have fun.
Thanks for watching Next Edge Tutorials and looking forward to seeing you in our next lesson.
