Thailand for kids. Today we will learn lots of facts about Thailand. Meet some elephants,
visit a floating market, look at a huge solid gold statue and celebrate Songkran, the Thai new year
by having a water fight. Get comfy as it's time for Professor Propeller's trip to Thailand. Let's
fly. I am Professor Propeller. I fly around the world with my magical red propeller bow tie
on exciting, entertaining adventures. Today I'm in Thailand. Thailand is beautiful.
This is Doi Inthanon. It's the tallest mountain in Thailand. Our world is made up of the sea
and seven areas of land called continents. Thailand is on a continent called Asia.
It is often sunny and hot in most of Thailand, but thankfully they have some of the nicest beaches in
the world, like Rele Beach. The Thai flag is red, white and blue in horizontal stripes.
In Thailand they use money called the Thai Baht. The capital city of Thailand is Bangkok.
Well, this looks like it's going to be an exciting adventure, doesn't it?
Thailand has lots to see and do. Oh, look, a floating market. Hello there, good sir. How much
is one of your lovely ripe bananas, please? 100 baht. Well, that's about three US dollars.
That's very expensive. I shall have to haggle him down. How about 10 baht? One banana costs
100 baht. You drive a hard bargain. How about 50 baht? One banana, 100 baht.
He's trying to rip me off. Forget it. I'll get some food elsewhere. Good day.
These floating markets are like normal markets you might see in the street,
but here most of the market stalls are on boats floating on the river. People sell all kinds of
things. Exotic fruits and some are even cooking hot meals to sell. Carcoon, thank you.
Some delicious Thai green curry. Thailand has incredible food. They often mix together
five different types of flavour. Sweet, sour, spicy, salty and bitter. Talented chefs in
Thailand delicately balance these five flavours to make incredible and interesting food.
It's time for an advert while I finish my delicious Thai green curry.
But we'll be back in a moment to take a look at this incredible gold statue.
Professor Hella.
Welcome back to Thailand. A long time ago there was a religious leader called Buddha.
He is very important in Thailand. You may have seen statues of Buddha before.
There are lots in Thailand. This one is called Phra Sukhothai Chai Mit. It is extra special
because it's made of solid gold. It's three metres tall and very,
very heavy. It's kept safe in a temple in Bangkok.
Guess who? Oh no, it's Steamer, the thief. Everybody's favourite villain. Look at all that
gold. I'll never be able to steal it unless I shrink it with my shrink ray.
And then run away before anybody notices.
Who will stop Steamer and get the golden Buddha back to the temple?
Professor Propeller will be back after this short advert.
Welcome back to Professor Propeller's planet. There are lots of fantastic parties and
celebrations in Thailand. Songkran is the Thai New Year.
It usually lasts for three days in the middle of April,
but some people like to celebrate for even longer. As part of the celebration people get
water guns, hoses, buckets and they head out into the street and have a huge water fight.
Oh my goodness, what are you doing? What are you doing? Leave that camera alone.
Leave it alone. Don't get water on it. You'll break...
David here once again with some breaking news. A giant gold Buddha statue has been stolen from
a temple in Bangkok. We'll bring you more on this story as soon as we can.
Now for the weather with Paula. The weather is hot. Now leave me alone.
Do the sports news. Okay, sports news, Mick.
All right, okay. Sports in Thailand. Okay, the most popular sports, football, volleyball,
golf. They play golf a lot in Thailand, but the number one sport there is Thai boxing.
I don't really want to do this sport. You look a bit hard to beat, mate.
Take care guys and I'll see you next time.
Animals in Thailand are exotic and varied. The biggest fish in the world swim around Thailand.
Whale sharks. These are friendly, gentle giants and nothing to be afraid of.
There are about 300 different types of mammals live here, including types of bear, leopards,
tiger, and this adorable creature called a pangolin. You can also find elephants in Thailand.
Elephants are very important here. They are the national animal and their pictures
have appeared on stamps and coins and are also in the center of the Thai Navy flag.
But sadly, elephants in Thailand are often mistreated,
chained up and beaten with tourists riding on their backs.
It is very cruel and these magnificent giants deserve more respect.
Well, that was the best heist ever. Now to turn you back to a giant Buddha.
I should just turn my ray to anti-shrink mode and blow you back up to a big gold statue.
Oh no, I've made a giant elephant.
Ouchy.
I've just seen the most enormous elephant in the forest.
Oh look, the golden statue. I'll let everybody know that it's here.
It's time for me to go, but be sure to check my YouTube channel for lots more fun adventures.
