Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one, in whom I delight.
I will put my spirit on him, and he will bring justice to the nations.
Isaiah 42, 1.
Becoming one of God's chosen people is amazing.
We didn't choose to be part of his family, he chose us.
God is the one who made us physically and spiritually.
Being favored by God is special and deep.
He gives us love and forgiveness through his gift of redemption.
It's a blessing to be part of Christ, and have the Holy Spirit with us.
Being chosen comes with a life of suffering, but there is a deeper meaning behind this.
If you get too involved with the world, you'll miss the real meaning of life, because the
world is all about chasing things that don't last.
Your worth doesn't come from worldly things.
When you follow God, life might get harder, because you're not following the world's
rules.
Even some churches are teaching wrong things, like saying you'll be rich if you give them
money.
But that's not true.
God and money are totally different.
Most people have been taught lies and defend them because they don't know any better.
If you really want to follow God, you might lose a lot in this world.
The path to heaven is narrow, and if you're part of the world, you won't find it.
That's why we suffer.
I'm not telling you this for money or fame, but to help you see the truth.
Your soul is what matters most, and that's why Satan tries to trick people with temporary
things.
The chosen ones have to carry their journey in silence, without bothering the ignorant.
Every person is living in their own timeline, and need not be disturbed with the higher
calling.
Every person will reach it in their own time.
Why does God isolate his chosen ones?
Because to be made holy is to be set aside, to be purified, to be set apart from sin.
Holiness and purity are more easily cultivated in isolation, or when isolated away from the
ways of the world.
Romans 12 1 2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies
a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
It is written, If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.
If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own, but because you are not
of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
John 15 18
And also, you adulterous people, do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity
with God?
Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
James 4 4
We are always in the middle of a battlefield, and there is always suffering there.
But those who fight for the Lord are guaranteed victory in the end.
Choose your side wisely.
Admit that you are a sinner in need of a savior.
Believe that Jesus is Lord, died for your sins, and was raised from the dead.
Call on his name to save you from the coming judgment.
And then follow him.
Peter, speaking to Christians who were scattered across the Roman Empire, referred to them
as chosen race, royal priesthood, holy nation, and people for his own possession.
He said this to encourage them greatly, because they were a small group facing persecution
in a world that didn't believe in their faith, and was increasingly hostile towards them.
Even though their enemies might seem strong and numerous, they should remember they are
chosen by God.
So Peter urged suffering Christians to understand the significance of this.
They should take joy in knowing they belong to God.
Your belief in God isn't because you chose him, but because he chose you.
It's like a special gift from God.
God's choice isn't about how good or special you are.
It's because of his love and grace.
If you believe in God, it's because he chose you.
You can be sure of this because of the way you respond to his message.
Because God chose you, nothing can make God stop loving you or accepting you.
Knowing that God chose you should make you humble, not proud.
God's choice makes all people equal.
It doesn't matter what race you are.
God chose you so that you can spend forever praising him and feeling joyful.
God will help you get to heaven, even though there may be struggles along the way.
God's plan for the world includes helping those he chose.
In the end, God will make sure that those he chose will be treated fairly and rewarded.
I have both seen and testified that this man is the chosen one of God.
John 1.34
Whether you know a lot about Jesus or not, we can learn from John's story.
Two things are important in this Bible verse.
One, I've seen him.
Think, have you seen Jesus?
Even John didn't recognize him at first.
We haven't seen Jesus face to face, but do you know what he's like?
Have you felt his presence?
Have you seen the good things he does?
For instance, when our third daughter was born sick, Christ was there with us.
We felt his peace, and we saw his work in the doctors and nurses who helped us.
Those days were hard, but we saw God more clearly than ever before.
Two, I've told others about him.
Once we know Jesus, we should tell others about him.
This doesn't mean you have to travel the world like a missionary.
It can be as simple as sharing with your family, co-workers, or neighbors.
Live for Jesus, and your life will show others what he's like.
You don't have to be perfect, just honest.
Listen to this powerful prayer if you feel like you're chosen.
Gracious Heavenly Father, we begin this new month with a thankful heart.
Lord, accept our offerings and prayers we offer to you.
Pour out your spirit on all the preachers and presbyters
who share the word of God with the congregation.
Lord, we, as your chosen ones, pray for those who are burdened
with many physical and family challenges.
May we generously stretch out our hand to help those who are in need.
Lord, be with every one of us, near and far.
Let the jar of flour and jug of oil not run dry in every home,
especially those who toil hard to get even one square meal a day for their family.
Lord, be our shelter when we are at home,
our companion when we go out, and our welcome guest when we return home.
Lord, bless every home with your peace, joy, and your favors.
Strengthen our attempt to walk upright and pleasing in your sight.
In Jesus's name we pray, amen.
Gracious God, the Almighty, who has chosen to dwell in my heart through your Holy Spirit,
thank you for revealing yourself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Be at work in my life through the Spirit.
Purify my heart, transform my mind, and empower my actions
so that I will honor you and help others know your Son.
In Jesus's name I pray, amen.
