The artifacts of the Shu civilization have slept for over 3,000 years and now awaken to amaze the world in the halls of this expansive museum. Surfaces are lit with no visible fixtures, creating a sense of surprise to visitors inside and outside the building. A balance of concealed ceiling illumination, façade uplighting, and the reflectivity of complex surfaces combine to form "eyes" that immerse visitors within the space and offer mystery to those outside the museum. It is the eye of the Ancient Shu Kingdom, brightening the world.

The 2024 IALD International Lighting Design Awards was celebrated in a San Diego, California, presentation event. Twenty-eight projects from ten countries were recognized and applauded for demonstrating exceptional lighting design and contributing to the professional community.

Now in its 41st year, the IALD International Lighting Design Awards is the longest-running program that recognizes architectural lighting design excellence. Receiving an IALD award is universally heralded as the top honor in the lighting design industry. Since its inception in 1983, the IALD International Lighting Design Awards has honored lighting design that reaches new heights, moves beyond the ordinary, and represents excellence in aesthetic and technical design achievement.
