Casals Forum, Music Quarter - 2024 IALD Award of Merit
PROJECT: Casals Forum, Music Quarter
LOCATION: Kronberg im Taunus, Hesse, Germany
LIGHTING DESIGN: Licht Kunst Licht AG
PHOTOGRAPHY: (c) Marcus Ebener
An integrated and ambient lighting concept has been developed for the impressive architecture of the Casals Forum in Kronberg, offering flexible lighting scenarios and diverse lighting atmospheres for a holistic musical experience. Diverse lighting scenes have been developed for the central Chamber Music Hall, enabling a gradual change in atmosphere from the hall's brightly lit state to a more intimate concert scenario. The hall is separated from the foyer by a mostly glazed curved wall, illuminated by a ceiling-integrated light channel with diffuse linear light segments and adjustable black spotlights.
The 2024 IALD International Lighting Design Awards was celebrated in a San Diego, California, presentation event. Twenty-eight projects from ten countries were recognized and applauded for demonstrating exceptional lighting design and contributing to the professional community.
Now in its 41st year, the IALD International Lighting Design Awards is the longest-running program that recognizes architectural lighting design excellence. Receiving an IALD award is universally heralded as the top honor in the lighting design industry. Since its inception in 1983, the IALD International Lighting Design Awards has honored lighting design that reaches new heights, moves beyond the ordinary, and represents excellence in aesthetic and technical design achievement.
