Cachuma Lake | Our Favorite Campground! | Camping on the California Coast
We camped at Cachuma Lake Campground in California for a full week and LOVED this park. We took a tour around the campground to see all of the amenities and scoped out which basic sites are the best for RVs.
Cachuma Lake campground has about 500 campsites from basic sites without hookups to full or partial hookups. For those without an RV or tent, they also have yurts and cabins available on a nightly basis. The park is well equipped with amenities, including fuel/propane, laundry, sani-station, showers, boat launch and boat rentals, a restaurant, general store, and a pool. The nature center is informative about the various animal species that call the area home, and there is also a disc golf course and disc rentals.
Among the basic sites, we feel that sites 211, 278, 294, 296, 320, 331, 332, 359, 361, 358, 416, 419, 421, 465, 481,and 479 are best suited for trailers and RVs in terms of size and clearance from overhanging branches. Some of the other sites may be suitable, but these were our favorite sites where we would happily park our 25’ travel trailer.
Nearby (within a 40 minute drive) are the cities of Santa Barbara, known as the American Riviera, and Solvang, a Danish themed town full of interesting shops, beautiful Danish-style architecture, and an ostrich farm.
