the city of Holo is breaking out new
technology to combat graffiti on
buildings and other spaces downtown 22
news reporter Christina deor joins us
live in studio after speaking with the
mayor about how this will help Property
Owners get rid of unwanted writing Sia
mayor Garcia says he wants this to be a
partnership between the city and
Property Owners to combat this new
sense you wake up one morning and there
it is and there it is graffiti defacing
City buildings it's considered a quality
of life issue and it's a headache for
property owners in cities like Holio who
are required to cover it up or face
penalties we were learning how expensive
it is for these Property Owners to
remove this graffiti and it's like
constant how do we meet folks in the
middle to navigate this nuisance that
isn't really their fault and the city
has an answer we're calling it The
graffiti eater the graffiti eater is a
state-of-the-art trailer equipped with a
power machine and eco-friendly materials
designed specifically for graffiti
removal it uses a detergent called
elephant snot and despite the silly name
it works to vaporize graffiti right off
of a building it's deployed upon request
from property owners who must sign a
liability waiver for any potential
damage it may cause to their property
the goal is not to only beautify holy o
but to help property owners who are
responsible for removing graffiti and
send a strong message that vandalism
won't be tolerated I strongly feel it's
going to deter the activity from
happening where mitigating these issues
deescalate as much as possible and
that's going to
require collaborative efforts between
both the property owners and the city we
got to work together to make sure that
we are demanding the respect and
accountability that our city deserves
polio residents can report graffiti to
the mayor's office or to the DPW they
can also utilize a c click fix online
system where a resident can take a photo
and leave a message of the graffiti for
the city to see and later
remove and this largely is in part of
the Holy Oaks Flex Squad which is an
enforcement team deployed on Saturdays
that issues code enforcements working
for you tonight chis deor 22 News
