I was talking to a friend of mine that owns another pet sitting and dog walking business and he said
to me, I don't know why I signed up to do this event. I can't handle more clients myself and I
don't want to hire more people. So I looked at him and I said hiring is not the only way to grow
your business. Now this is a juicy topic but before I get into other ways to grow your pet business
without hiring people, please hit the subscribe button and drop a comment down below just telling
me what you would like to see more of in the future. For those of you that don't know, I'm
Doug the Dog Guy, owner and founder of Bad to the Bone Pet Care. I've been a full-time professional
pet sitter and dog walker for over seven years and I've built an award-winning team servicing
Northeast and Central Florida. When you get to a point in your business where you cannot handle
all the requests that are coming in, a lot of people think that the only way to continue growing
is to hire. But a lot of pet sitters and dog walkers that are in this position don't actually
have the knowledge or even the desire to hire and manage a team. You got to remember that you
started your own business for a reason so you have to make your business fit your skills and
your desires. Don't just follow what other businesses are doing and think that that is the
only way. Now hopefully you made a business plan before you got started and you have an idea of
what you would like your business to look like in the future. So let's think about why you want to
grow. Do you want to grow just to make more money or is it to avoid telling clients no? Or
maybe you just want to help as many pets as possible or maybe you do have a desire to grow a
team. The important part here is that you have to know why you are doing what you're doing. You
can't determine different ways to grow if you don't know why you want to grow. If your main idea
of growth comes down to you making more money then it might be easier for you to just raise your
own prices than to go and hire someone. If you charge enough for your services then you could
actually be making more money working by yourself than if you had one employee. And I know you're
thinking oh my clients will never pay that much but if you if you are offering an exceptional
service and truly becoming an essential part of these clients lives then they will stick with you
when you raise your prices. And the clients that do leave you, you can and will replace with better
high-paying clients. The market is out there you just have to find them. One way that you could
grow your business without hiring would be to diversify your services. Let's say you start
offering group walks that way you're getting paid to walk multiple dogs at once. Or you could go get
let's say a Reiki certification that way you could do some energy healing while you're already at
an overnight stay. The point is to get paid for multiple services at once. Another way that you
could grow your business without hiring would be to start selling a product. And I know that's a
daunting thought but it could be simple. You could partner with a local pet bakery, buy their treats
wholesale and then turn around and sell them to your clients for a small profit. Or let's say you
do a customizable personalized bark box type subscription service for your clients. There are
lots of different ways to go about this. Don't forget that other businesses will pay you for
the clients that you can't take. If you're really good at marketing then it might make more sense to
set up referral agreements with other pet sitting companies and get a kickback from these clients
that you can't take on yourself. You could essentially use your business as a funnel for
new clients and make a ton of money from referral fees from other pet sitting businesses. Remember
there will always be more pets than there are service providers so why not be nice to your
competitors and help everyone succeed together. The sky is the limit with the possibilities in
the pet care industry so look at your own skills and desires in your business plan and decide which
avenue is best for you because it may not be hiring. I hope this information helps you to
think outside of the box about your business. Remember to hit the subscribe button and share

you to stay positive.
