We work with the SSP to breed animals that are incredibly endangered. These guys are
very endangered in the Himalayas. There's less than 10,000 and as few as 2,500 left in the wild.
And yeah, we have a breeding recommendation with the SSP of the red pandas to breed these guys. So
Maya and Justin have these two cubs. They will be three months old on tomorrow, the 17th. And
you can see that the one cub is starting to want to come out of the box, but Maya doesn't want her
to. She's not ready for her cub to venture out yet. The one cub we had to hand raise is doing
really well still. Hopefully we can try and get her back with the family. We communicate via email,
phone calls. We have meetings every year with SSPs to do planning. So zoos that have those
animals can join the meetings to help with the planning and be involved with the breeding
wrecks that come out. So for us to be a part of this breeding program is very awesome. And to
contribute to the population of these animals with how we have done so far is incredible.
We are very excited to be a part of it. Red Panda Network is an incredible network that provides
lots of information on how people can help these red pandas in the wild. The main reason that
they're so endangered is deforestation and degradation. So if you go to Red Panda Network,
they provide lots of ways that you can help with this species.
