So if you looked up at the night sky tonight, then you probably saw the
northern lights make an appearance. A powerful eruption from the sun
supercharged the northern lights, making colorful sky shows visible as
far as south as Alabama, northern California and even here in western
Massachusetts. We received dozens of pictures of the northern lights this
evening. This week's solar storm is the most severe since May 10th when the
Space Weather Prediction Center observed an even stronger and much
more rare solar storm before the May event. Noah had not issued a severe
geomagnetic storm watch since 2005. So let's bring in 22 news from team
meteorologist Brian Lapis with the latest forecast a bright night out
there tonight. Yeah, pretty amazing. You know, I've been here for 28 years
now and to see this many northern lights episodes in such a short amount
of time time is really unheard of. And we were seeing the northern lights
just about everywhere today. Nicholas Shea was kind of walking down the
street in Palmer and caught this picture of the northern lights over a
graveyard. Kind of very Halloween esque out there. Nice shot. Thanks for
sending that to us via reported at W W L P dot com. Tim Piper. Check out
these sites here from South Hampton. Thank you for emailing your picture.
This is a great shot from Rebecca and Hadley. An orange hue and a little bit
of green there on the horizon. Great shot sent to us by reported at W W L P

lights, you can send them to us via email at report it at W W L P dot com.
