What can you see in JASPER if you only have ONE DAY?
We visit Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada for ONE DAY of fun and adventure. The park is well-known for its wildlife, mountains, and glaciers. We were definitely not disappointed. This RV Vlog details the activities and things we saw in Jasper on a day in early October.
There are tons of hiking trails in Jasper, but we could only pick one. So, we rode the JASPER SKYTRAM to the trailhead for the Summit Trail to the top of Whistlers Peak. This trail is a 1.4 km hike with a 200 meter elevation gain. The effort is well worth it to see an AMAZING 360° VIEW of the surrounding snow-capped mountains. It took us about 1-hour to hike up. We could even see our RV in Whistlers campground below where we camped for the night. If you are feeling really fit, you can also skip the SkyTram altogether and hike the full 16.6km from the base.
After talking with the SkyTram operator we learned about MALIGNE LAKE and were told that a lot of wildlife is usually seen on the drive there. So, we hopped into the car and again were amazed by the sight of moose, fox, owl, and elk - all in a 40 minute drive! At Maligne Lake there is a boat house to rent kayaks or canoes, a boat launch, and boat tours of the lake available. A restaurant is on site and there are some hiking trails and walks around the lake.
