MI5: Russia's GRU Aiming to Create Chaos in Europe

MI5 Director General Ken McCollum said today that Russian military intelligence seeks to create chaos across Britain and Europe. He added that a growing threat from al-Qaeda and ISIS was his greatest concern regarding terrorism. McCollum accused Iran of being behind many plots in Britain in an annual speech. Listen. McCollum said threat investigations increased by 48% over the past year. He said Russia and Iran are using criminals, drug traffickers and proxies to carry out their activities. McCollum outlined the threats to Britain. He said that since March 2017, MI5 and the British police have disrupted 43 late-stage plots, some of which were in the final days of planning for mass murder.
