What is harder to learn? Skiing vs Snowboarding

Hello and welcome to another episode of No Board. Today we're going to talk about a question I get
a lot and this is which is harder snowboarding or skiing. Before we start off I want you to
know that age is a very important part of this question and especially for kids under the age
of around eight-ish I would recommend starting off with skiing because snowboarding has a lot
of balance issues in that age and unless you already did some board sports like wakeboarding
or longboarding skateboarding something in this direction I would recommend staying with skiing
and of course for adults it's also very helpful if you did already a board sport and you want to
learn snowboarding but on the other hand if you did something like ice skating or rollerblading
that helps while learning skiing. If you haven't done any of those sports and you want to decide
whether you start off skiing or snowboarding you have to know that both of them have their
difficulties but they come at a different time. If you start off skiing you will notice that you are
getting quite ahead of snowboarders at the first couple of hours because braking especially in the
snowplow position and doing your first turns is very simple when you start off skiing. Snowboarders
have it way harder in the first couple of hours but as you see in this chart snowboarders will
catch up to you and this is in my experience as a snowboarder and ski instructor two or three days
down the road. Once a snowboarder has figured out how to do turns they will be increasing the
skill set very quickly because for snowboarders it doesn't matter if they do their turns in flat
areas or on steeper terrain and skiers will have a problem once they reach a certain level they have
to stop using their snowplow and they have to learn how to do parallel skiing so that your skis
are always parallel to each other and at that point snowboarders will catch up to you. A saying
you can remember is snowboarding is hard to learn and easy to master and skiing is the other way
around skiing is easy to learn but hard to master so once you are at this point that you want to do
your parallel skiing snowboarders will definitely catch up to you. Now you have to decide if you
want an easier start up to this point or if you want to invest your time into snowboarding and
have it a lot easier down the road. If you have any more questions left you can of course ask
them in the comment section down below and I will do my best to answer them as quick as I can
and if you haven't subscribed to snowboard and you want to know more about snowboarding you
should consider subscribing to snowboard so you get a notification whenever the next video goes
live and I hope to see you in the next one. Bye!
