Hey what's up everyone Kevin here. In this video I want to share with you guys
my top 10 favorite places to snowboard in the world
and this list is a reflection of if I could ride anywhere tomorrow
where would I go and I just want to share that with you guys now.
Starting off at number 10 this resort just squeaked in
it's Snowbird Resort here in Utah. Snowboard is at number 10 and not any
higher because I've only had one day of riding
there but I can see from that one day that
there is so much terrain to explore incredible views and from the riding
that I had there it was some of the lightest and deepest
powder mixed in with some incredible terrain.
So some steep runs mixed in with some fun drops
so that is the terrain that I love to ride. The people at Snowbird were also
super friendly so that's something I consider too the
overall vibe of the mountain.
At number nine I've got Kirkwood Mountain in California. I spent last
season in Lake Tahoe and Kirkwood stood out as a very special
mountain. It's definitely a bit removed from the
rest of the mountains so a bit of a trek to get out there but
once you're at Kirkwood you're hitting some of the best steep
runs, shoots, mellow trees just a great variety
of challenging and fun terrain. The special thing to me
about Kirkwood is how you really feel like you're
removed from civilization and you're out in the mountains
so you get that big mountain feel and because it's removed
you get really quiet runs too so you find yourself on a run by yourself
so it's not crowded and you can also just get lap after lap
because there's barely any lift lines.
At number eight I've got Hapo One Resort in Hakuba, Japan.
It's been about five years since I've been to Hakuba but
the experience I had there and the runs still stick in my head and still some of
my favorite riding that I've ever done. Japan is known for having
some of the deepest and lightest snow and that was definitely my experience
but the unique thing I found at Hapo One is that you also
get some incredible views and the terrain is some of my favorite for
snowboarding so some big natural half pipe style
features also some very unique tree riding so
that entire experience at Hakuba with the Japanese culture
definitely puts this spot into my top 10.
Number seven is Corralco, Chile. This is the only resort on the list that's
in the southern hemisphere. Corralco is a bit further south in
Chile compared to the rest of the resorts
near the town of Melcaueo and the special thing about Corralco
is you pretty much have no lift lines so if you turn up
you're going to get lap after lap of fun turns.
On a pow day you're going to get those untracked turns
through some really unique terrain so Corralco definitely the most unique
terrain on the list from alpine feeling riding to trees so a
really good mix and when you combine that with no lift
lines and incredible views and the friendly people of Chile it's
definitely a place that you have to go snowboarding.
At number six we've got Saint Anton, Austria. Saint Anton
is definitely the biggest resort of this entire list.
The first time I saw the trail map I was completely blown away.
It would take you 10 years to explore this whole
resort but I think the highlight is just
the immense and big mountain riding so everywhere you look you've got big long
runs, steep chutes, the kind of riding that you
would see in a snowboard movie. Saint Anton is probably also the most
advanced riding of the list so if you want those
steep technical runs or if you want to ride with lots of
speed and big wide open spaces Saint Anton is definitely the spot.
At number five we're going to the mountain I've spent the most time at in
my life is Whistler Blackcomb. You guys may be surprised that this is
at number five but the only reason it's not in the top
three is because Whistler Blackcomb is getting a little bit busy so if you
turn up you're gonna ride maybe some of the best terrain,
best trees, incredible alpine but the one drawback is it does get fairly
busy but if you don't mind dealing with some
lineups the first place that I would head up to is Peak Chair. You're gonna get
some incredible alpine runs combined with some trees or if you prefer
Blackcomb heading up the Glacier Chair and
checking out Spanky's Ladder you're gonna find some of the best alpine
and deep powder lines in all of Canada and if you prefer trees you got the
Crystal Chair which has some of the best trees
in the world.
At number four of my favorite places is Whitewater
BC Canada. So Whitewater BC you've probably never heard of it but it's a
small resort in the interior of BC. Whitewater is definitely a smaller
resort but each run that you get out there is
super high quality you're finding great snow
and it's another resort that is pretty much empty
so you're never gonna wait in a lift line you're just gonna get right on
there and back into another run. The standout
in Whitewater is definitely the terrain so as you're riding through you're just
gonna find all kinds of natural drops, kickers, things to ride between
really fun trees. So for the variety of terrain
the quietness of the mountain definitely a spot you got hit up.
We're heading into the top three so all these places are incredible
and at number three I've got Hanazono Resort in Nisako, Japan.
Nisako definitely has the lightest and deepest snow
I've ever ridden so if you're looking for that real
light Japan snow Nisako is the spot to hit.
Hanazono also has some very unique things about the mountain
it's got the pizza box chair so a single seater chairlift that takes you to the
top of the mountain. If you can brave that chairlift it's
going to take you to some of the best tree riding in the world and riding
through that deep snow through the trees is what makes Nisako so special.
My number two place in the world to snowboard is Mount Baker,
Washington. Starting off I got to apologize to everyone at Mount Baker
I'm sorry I'm putting you guys into a list but this place is too good to keep
a secret. Mount Baker gets some of the most snowfall
in all of North America. When it is a pow day and if you get there
early you're going to find short lines and
everywhere you look there's just incredible terrain
with deep untouched snow. Because it's a quiet resort you're going to get lap
after lap of incredible lines and once everything is taken you've got
some easy backcountry access so if you have
your avi gear and some safety training you can get out to some incredible
backcountry zones that to me are best in the world. Of my top
five best pal laps of my life definitely at least three of them I've
been at Baker that's how good it is. If you want to go off the beaten track
find a small resort Baker is the spot to go.
Number one on my list if I could go anywhere tomorrow
my favorite place on earth I'd go to Palisades Tahoe
in California. Palisades I think even though the locals know it's amazing
it's a little bit underrated and for me when I first arrived at Palisades it
took me a little while to get used to all the areas different
chairlifts. It's a place where you have incredible
terrain just packed into one resort everywhere you look you're finding
incredible bulls very rideable drops just everything that you can imagine
that you want to do on your snowboard it's very accessible at Palisades. I was
riding with a friend there who told me that
riding at Palisades felt like you're playing a snowboard video game
it's just so unbelievable the quality of terrain and the variety of things you
can do and what's really surprising to me as
well is that even though Palisades can get a little bit busy because there's
so many different lifts people get spread out
so you're not really spending any time in lift lines
but what makes it really special to me is you just get that combination
of sunny skies with the great snow and incredible terrain
when you put that all together it's giving you like the best runs that you
can get in life and I definitely felt that at Palisades
so that's why I would go back there tomorrow.
So those are my top 10 favorite places to snowboard in the world if you guys
have any questions about these resorts hit me up in the comments
if you disagree with this list or if there's some place that you would
recommend it'd be great to hear from it down in the comments as well.
Thank you guys for watching and I'll catch you in the next video.
