All right gentlemen, this movie is so magical. Tell me why you think fans will think this is
so special. I think it's heartfelt, it's meant sincerely and I think that's rare in this day
and age and it's a movie about never giving up on your dreams and it's not meant with an ounce
of cynicism and I think people are inclined to roll their eyes when they feel like Hollywood's
trying to sell them on that dream and that story but this is really meant, it's felt.
I loved it, I loved it. I was smiling the whole time but I have to tell you, I went on YouTube,
I did Timothy and I saw Sweet Charity High School Musical and when I was reading the notes that
helped you get this role. Did you ever think that that would be the case? No, I really did not,
I did not and this was like tapping into that musical theatre bag like I hadn't in, you know,
10 years or something. Yeah. It's a skill set I didn't think I would ever use so are you a Sweet
Charity fan? I was just gonna ask. Remind me what that is. Is that another Tennessee Williams?
No, it's a musical that was first done in the 50s or 60s. Yeah, you gotta see Timothy,
he starred in it in his high school musical and it's on YouTube for you to watch if you'd like.
I watch Timothy on YouTube most nights. Makes perfect sense. You two are so fun together,
it just had me laughing the whole time. Hugh, is it true that you really are that grumudgeon and
what was the words Paul used? Unlikable, unreasonable, what are these words? Is this
why you wanted the Oompa Loompa role? Well, that's why he wanted me for it,
it was a little hurtful but I need to work, I've got a lot of mouths to feed.
Yes, you do. Timothy, can you, is Hugh grumudgeon, would you describe him that way?
No, I think Hugh is secretly vulnerable and looking for affection. Yes, yes. Yeah,
Hugh, this role is, you have such a storied career, why was it time to get into the orange
face paint, the green outfit and be an Oompa Loompa? What was this, went into this choice for
you? Well, look, this is what I get offered these days and I'm in the freak show phase of my career.
I do baddies, psychopaths, weirdos, perverts and now Oompa Loompas. You do not play perverts.
I threw that in. I was going to say, what was that? I've just been offered the part of an
orangutan as well. Oh, fabulous. I can't wait to see it. Yeah. That'll be great. Timothy,
you did call Hugh one of the greats and that it was a pleasure working with him. Absolutely.
If this movie has had many adaptations, if you could choose one of Hugh's films to remake or
create another adaptation, what would be your choice? That's immediately blasphemous because
they're perfect. The ones I love, Notting Hill and Love Actually. You'd have been great in
my first film, Morris. Yes, and I love Morris. We had a very similar experience there, both
James Ivory. Yeah, both James Ivory films. Both stories of gay men. Yeah. That's true,
actually. Both floppy haired. Yeah. You mentioned Love Actually. I was just slightly more beautiful.
Yes, you're still beautiful. I can confirm. I agree. I think the female audience and the male
audience can confirm you're still beautiful. No, no, no. I look like a... I look to the
pictures from a premiere, I look a bit like a cigarette. You do not look like a cigarette.
My hair looks like ash and my slightly red face looks like it's the burning bit.
You do not look like a cigarette. Love Actually was 20 years ago. Did you know that this month?
It's the best Christmas movie of all time. It truly is. If it comes on in your house,
what is your reaction to that? Well,
I like Colin's bits. Colin Firth's story. Yes, of course. I've skipped through the rest of it,
really, which is weird because I hate Colin and I want nothing but bad for his career.
But I do think that's the best part of that film. Yeah. Did you always audition for your
part or were you considered for Colin's role? Do you know? No, there was no auditioning.
I was offered the Prime Minister and I said to Richard Curtis, I don't know, Richard,
it sounds like I could be doing the same part yet again after Four Weddings and Notting Hill.
He said, no, no, it's significantly different. Significantly.
Yeah. OK, well, I'll play it significantly differently. Yeah. And then played it exactly
the same. Timothy, I love this sweater. Thank you. You are a fashion star. I cannot believe
how you keep slaying these looks one at a time. It is fabulous. Thank you. Talk to me about.
You're giving me the fuel to keep going. Oh, people, you are that look yesterday. People
are loving it. Thank you. I really fell in love with your fashion when you stepped out with the
jumpsuit years ago. Now we saw this latex coat. Talk to me about your love of fashion. Is it
always something that you had with that kid in Sweet Charity? Love these looks or what would
he say? He would love these looks, but it starts with Hugh Grant. You know, it was seeing his
sartorial choices early on in his career. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I did have a jumpsuit.
I was given it by a girlfriend, but it wasn't a success because my mother washed it
and she washed it too hot. You can't do that with a jumpsuit. And so then it was slightly
too small. And that means it's too short from crutch to shoulder. And you have to walk around
slightly hooped. Yes. Yes. She's not a really very sexy look. But he tells me often that I
remind him of his mother. That's such a compliment. Wow. What do you see in Timothy that your mother
also has? No, it's the eyes. It's really weird. Go away, Mom. Oh, really? Okay. Well, we'd love
to meet her. Timothy, tell me how you would describe your fashion sense besides, of course,
being inspired by Hugh. I don't know. I don't know. When you're thinking of looks. I'm interested to
hear the answer to this question. I don't know. Just, you know, I think I feel like Zendaya is
a great example. Now, in this day and age, you can sort of lean into what the vibe of a movie is
in, you know, promotional stuff you do. So this movie is cheerful and fun and colorful.
But if you are home alone playing your violent video games, which I know you love,
what are you wearing? I'm, you know, full combat gear. I'm in full combat gear.
Well, gentlemen, thank you for your time. Thank you. I'd like to invite you to a special
entry to Access Hollywood's golden ticket for each of you. We'll see you in L.A.
Absolutely. You're invited to a very exclusive event. Thank you. Thank you.
