Florence Pugh, star of 'Oppenheimer,' 'Don't Worry, Darling' and 'A Good Person', is not just a daring fashion icon, but a prolific actor, singer, and cook as well — and every accent she attempts always lands just right (just don't ask her to use an accent in a joke). How does she do it?!
I loved it. I loved it.
It's odd and wonderful.
I really love accents. I love doing accents.
I didn't say anything.
Funnily enough, when I'm acting, it's really not that hard.
I love it.
But if I'm doing, like, a joke when I'm at dinner, I always screw it up.
I think the only thing sometimes that catch me off guard,
or actually, it's not even me that notices, like, Zach noticed them,
was it be certain phrases that an American just wouldn't say.
He'd be like, no one would ever say shall in America.
I was like, oh, sorry.
I've also just always been good at doing them.
Like, I've always copied my gran's accent or my grandad's accent.
I've always been taking the piss out of my grandad with his Grimsby accent.
So, you know, it's just fun. I like it.
I wouldn't have expected to be friends with Scarlett Johansson, but now I am.
We text all the time.
I wouldn't have expected to be friends with Morgan Freeman now, but now I am.
Whenever I get to work with these, all of these legends, these, like, greats,
I end up becoming mates with them, which is quite strange.
It's always the case when you work with people on films.
It's odd and wonderful.
I am a singer-songwriter.
I used to perform a lot when I was younger,
but this wasn't the role for it to be glossy or perfect.
The reason why she performs is because she's actually being honest with herself.
She's actually singing about herself and how she truly feels about herself
in a rehab center.
It was just about figuring out, like, what does she sound like?
How broken does she sound?
Kind of, like, letting Florence step away from perfecting it, I suppose.
Just letting it be raw.
I went on so many runs with my dog, Billy,
around so many neighborhoods in Maplewood, which was just beautiful.
I love the difference of houses.
The architecture was, like, really cool.
It was also very sentimental for Zach to go back and film there.
I felt like I was kind of stepping into, you know, Zach's world and Zach's brain
and Ali's world.
I had a wonderful time there.
My phone bill.
I'm not even kidding.
You're earning your own money now.
You pay your own phone bill.
That was quite a grown-up thing.
I was like, ooh, okay, this is now I've got money,
and it's going towards my Vodafone bill.
It was exciting to be a young adult, to be 17, to earn my own money
and to be, you know, spending it on the things that I thought suited me.
Thank you.
This is incredible.
My wife used to hang out with me down here.
She liked to whistle.
