40 million striker met Edu before the transfer window but Arsenal decided not to sign him.
Arsenal didn't sign a new striker this summer despite numerous links with a new number nine.
The Gunners did scour the market for a new centre-forward as they looked at the likes
of Benjamin Sesko and Victor Osserman. However, for one reason or another,
Arsenal didn't go for a new striker. Ivan Toni was strongly linked with a move to
Arsenal and it's TBR Football's understanding that a meeting did indeed take place between Toni
and the Gunners back in the spring. So, I wonder what tipped us to move away from this deal.
Ivan Toni met with Arsenal. TBR Football can reveal that Ivan Toni saw a dream move to
Arsenal fail to materialise after he spoke with the North London club.
Sources have confirmed to TBR that Toni met with Arsenal and their sporting director Edu
around Easter this year as the North London side assessed whether to pursue a deal. However,
following those talks, Arsenal decided not to push ahead with a deal. Therefore,
interest from other Premier League clubs failed to firm up again despite talks.
We also understand that Chelsea, Spurs, which Postacoglu said such, Manchester United all
showed an interest but like with Arsenal opted against the move. Why did they opt against it?
Was his wages too much? Was it not deeming he's a tactical fit? Is it him as a person?
What was it really and truly? Were clubs waiting to assess other striker options before going for
Ivan Toni? Who knows? But no one in the Premier League took a punt since we all know he's gone
to Saudi Arabia and he'll be, you know, his bank balance is probably more than he would have
earned at Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs or Manchester United but it's probably not the move you would
see and I wonder how long he actually stays in Saudi Arabia because has he kissed goodbye to
World Cup dreams? I'm not too sure people. Moving away from that, Arsenal considering
big January bid for a striker as Edu eyes 67 million Serie A star. I don't buy it. I don't
believe Arsenal sign a striker in January. I'd love to be proven wrong but you'd make a case of
low cost, versatile, attacking addition, maybe even a keeper or a central midfielder.
I think we'll wait to the summer to assess the likes of Jocarez, Isak, Sesco, so on and so forth
people. We know we put faith in Kai Havertz after failing to sign Benjamin Sesco. Apparently we're
weighing up the possibility of bringing in a big money striker in the January market.
Who knows? Because Sesco is not going to happen in January. Who knows people? Chelsea and Manchester
United have also been interested. We know Ivan Toni and Victor Rossman has been one.
We're linked with Marcus Turam of Inter Milan. I don't think Inter want to let him go mid-season
and I'm pretty sure he's going to cost a lot of money. Can't see Arsenal spending 67 million on
him so it feels like clickbait but nonetheless it is what it is. Following Lukman's exploit
since he's been in Italy and I wouldn't say he set the world alight against Arsenal recently on
Thursday, apparently we're reportedly interested in the Atalanta winger after his performance
against us on Thursday night. Allegedly Spurs, Newcastle and Liverpool as well as Arsenal are
interested and apparently all the other teams had scouts at the games. We've also been linked with
Ederson as well as PSG and Manchester United have been linked with the Atalanta Brazil and
obviously Atalanta midfielder. I mean I wouldn't be against Lukman. I think he's in his peak now.
He obviously plays for Nigeria but counts as homegrown. Be a great option off the left-hand
side which Sterling might not be here beyond the season. Trossart clearly isn't seen as a
regular starter and Martinelli has gone 17 games without a goal in assists which is
for his ability unacceptable. For Arsenal unacceptable. We all know we wanted Nico
Williams. Nothing came of that so it's fair to put that away. Keeping up the theme with goalies,
we all know several goalkeeping targets whether it be Dan Bentley or Garcia of Espanyol didn't
arrive at the club. The sporting director has confirmed that Arsenal bidded for Garcia which
we kind of knew. Clearly it wasn't enough to tempt Espanyol into a cell. He said,
With Joan it is obvious that his talent lies there at Arsenal level. His day-to-day life
is of a very high level. Obviously he took advantage of Pacquiao's injury and has taken
the number one position. It's true there's interest in him but for us he is an asset.
That's where we get a little bit into what a good cell is. What is a good cell? We understood
Joan is an asset and that he is necessary to achieve our objective because he plays in a very
specific position. We could not weaken there. We could not. The interest in him will not stop.
Hasn't said anything specific to Arsenal but it makes sense in that regard.
Apparently German football expert Christian Florke said Arsenal did not get too serious
last summer in relation to Leroy Sane. It was reported in England that there was interest
in Sane from Newcastle and Arsenal. Was he the mystery German? I talked to the management at
the club and apparently no one was asking directly for the player who has a year left on his deal.
Apparently his wage demands are problematic. Arsenal and Newcastle are both linked with
moves from the Premier League but according to Florke the type of wage he's earning at Bayern
is liable to put these suitors off. He's currently earning a lot of money at the club, in brackets,
£15 million plus £5 million in add-ons. It's very easy for him to achieve his add-ons as he
gets £1 million after every six games played. If you look at Arsenal's situation you see they now
have Raheem Sterling. I heard they don't pay his whole salary. Their agreement with Chelsea
sees Arsenal pay £100,000 a week while the remaining £200,000 a week is covered by Chelsea.
So he's earning £18.6 million, in brackets, £15.6 million a year which Arsenal did not want
to pay. If you pay that for Sterling I think it's very hard to pay €20 million for Sane.
I think Newcastle are also interested but it was the same game with Alise Bayern were in talks
along with Newcastle with the former eventually paying a €13 million salary. So you could kiss
goodbye to Sane potentially signing for the club. Good player, worked with Arteta before but
he's £28-29. He's not £75 but not too much longevity there.
California sends clear messages to Mikel Arteta over playing time. It's so good to have him and
Timbers potential options. You throw into that Tommy Assu, we're living. We believe we can win
every game we have to win. That's our belief and our strength of feeling. We can do it.
I know Man City pretty good. I don't need somebody telling me about City. We all know about them.
But we don't need to speak about them because we have to focus on ourselves. We can beat them if
we do our things well. We have a good spirit, a really good team. And from now we should think
about Sunday because that's going to be really tough as well. Fair enough people.
And then he said the competition is good because it pushes everyone in training in the game as well.
Fair enough. And he's also said it's his time to play. He said I'm already settled in.
The team has been amazing with me and now it's time to play. Training has been different but
as I've said before everybody is ready to help me. They're doing really good for me.
I'm learning quickly so now I can stay on the pitch and help the team. But I have understood
already and for sure the intensity is so high and in the game you can see that because the level
is amazing in the Premier League and Champions League. But when you play at the highest level
every game is tough. You don't have so much time to think about it. Fair play.
And obviously he bigged up David Rayer as well people. Apparently you know Thomas Partey is
still linked with the Saudi Pro League people and he's expected to leave Arsenal at the end
of the season. Simultaneously Arsenal as well as Liverpool and many other clubs continue to be
around the houses. There has been some emerging reports out of Spain that he's actually regretful
of staying at Sociedad. I don't know if that's in line to his contract. I don't know if that's
just silly journalism people. Who knows? Apparently Juventus were also interested in
Thomas Partey but Locatelli who ironically was once of interest to Arsenal, his form has made
them call their interest. We'll have to see. Apparently redevelopment plans are set for the
Emirates Stadium. They've paid down the majority of the debt, has been paid down. The commercial
revenue has been going back into paying that debt off. Arsenal are very lucky they managed
to build the stadium at a time when the debt rates were good. It's proven to be a good decision.
Now they've got room and leeway and the squad and championship are what is sitting in the
Cronkings mind now more than ever. It's clear he's given the backing to Arteta and they're
showing signs of success on the pitch but they need to keep an eye on the age of the Emirates
squad, sorry Emirates Stadium already. They need to make sure it's refreshed and revenue streams
keep going. The beauty of being a London club is that you can get ridiculous prices for your
hospitality because the market is there. I mean have you tried to go to the Emirates? You can
see it's a lot of money. Declan Rice has also bigged up Martinelli but I don't have the comments
people. He also bigged up David Rye who's probably our player of the season so far give or take with
Califuri, Timba, Saka and Kai Havert as well as Saliba and you know of late Gabriel. We're delighted
with another clean sheet, the centre-halves. I can't speak highly enough of them. The keeper
has gone to a next level. Unbelievable. They live the game in the right way. They love defending.
When you've got three in a little triangle like that who want it as much as they do, it's really
good. He's so level-headed. He hasn't changed one bit. Even when Ramsdale came out the team
and he went in, he didn't change how he was. There was massive pressure. He was our number
one last season. Obviously now he's fully number one. There's no questions around that now. He's
really focused. That's three games now this season where he's made crucial saves. He's
done everything right. He's living away from football the right way and he's showing that
on the pitch fair enough. I hear that. I hear that. Big up David Ryer in that regard people.
So it makes sense in that regard. Apparently a lot of clubs are monitoring the progress of
Sturgeon. I can't say his name off PSV. PSV are demanding 30 to 35 million for the Dutch
midfielder who is also wanted by Prem teams. We need a midfielder. I wonder if his hat's in the
ring. PSG are keen on signing Isak. Apparently he's valued at 85 million. We need to be saving
our pocket money and come the summer trying to buy that. Now you would have seen at the time
of making this video Chelsea beat West Ham. Mudruk got no minutes. He's eager to leave the
club in search of regular football. You'd imagine he'd go on loan first. But because we love to
bargain hunt at Chelsea and we did try to sign Mudruk, I wonder if that's something we revisit
either in January or next summer people. Who knows? But in relation to everything we discussed
here, let me know your thoughts. Don't forget to drop a like button and subscribe people.
On that note, peace.
