UWCL Stars of the Season | Spotlight on Alexandra Popp

Svenja Huch in Pajol Central, Jansdottir arriving in the box as well. Oh and it's cleared off the line by Bartoli. Popp was there to turn it home. Knew what was coming and got in the way. She's done brilliantly there. Bartoli used all of her Nausen experience there to sense what was coming, to keep the score at 0-0. Wiedermeier tonight. Popp leaving it. Jansdottir. Alex Popp. Let to be hit. Parry back into play. It's Rauscher-Kroos. And in the end, captain Marta Vycheva who pleads with his sides. Start and intent. Oh and there's another stutter of a save. This was the save though. Alex Popp, great technique to get this goal bound. But the save is absolutely magnificent from Lukasiewicz. Baltimore. Well led by Popp. Rauch. Popp has continued her run. And the early shot is a really good one. Oh that's a majestic finish. Started it all off, didn't she? And then look how she continues the run. And Rauch saw her but couldn't get to her. And then the first time finish is absolutely brilliant. Bouradi unable to keep it out. But the first time that Wolfsburg attacked with serious intent. PSG domestically remain a point behind Lyon in France after a narrow 1-0 win over Montpellier at the weekend. The cross here. Popp's in there again. Got herself in between the two centre-backs there. Alex Popp. It's really questionable defending from a PSG perspective. But the ball in there is wonderful, isn't it? From Hoots. Good diving header from Alex Popp. They effectively have two central midfielders playing in central defence tonight. PSG and how badly caught out they were there. It's really poor defending. I think she has to come and take that. But Wolfsburg are certainly putting the pressure on. There's a great block by McCabe as well. Stands on that far post again. And it comes. And flicked on and in! The returning Popp. Popping up for Wolfsburg. And the two-time winners of this competition have turned this tie on its head. Again with a headed goal. This is not the best of balls from Raoult. But fantastic header from Alexander Popp. Absolutely brilliant. Brilliant header. Gets across that near post. And that's why she's one of the best headers in the world. Here, great movement. Again, I highlighted her movement before the game. The three Arsenal players around her, I think they should defend her a lot better. But you can see, last minute, she makes that run on the back shoulder of Raphael. He comes across the front. And it's a brilliant header. You can feel it, though. You can feel it coming. Wolfsburg are growing into the game more. Here's Raoult. Charging forward now for Wolfsburg. Popp tries to get away from Maffei Leon. This is Payot. Payot with the delivery. Pops there! Of course, more paid for Barcelona. Minute of this. It will be checked by VAR. But at the moment, the celebrations continue for Wolfsburg. And it's Alex Popp with her third goal in the competition. They commit players forward. Well, they do it in fours, fives, and sixes. And she did brilliant work down the left-hand side. What a ball this is. Great ball into the box. I think Barcelona talk about is there a foul. But when you put the ball in the box for Popp like that, she's not going to miss. She does not miss those. Terrific. Well, VAR had checked to see if there was a foul in the build-up to this goal. But Popp in the right place at the right time to give Wolfsburg a second advantage.
