Cadillac CTS blacks out fleeing 140mph in construction zone π§ - Arkansas State Police in #pursuit
Trooper's Report:
Trooper Niles was stationary on U.S. Highway 67/167 northbound at the 16-mile marker. Trooper Niles observed a black
Cadillac sedan traveling in the far-left lane at 75mph in a 55mph work zone. Trooper Niles observed the vehicle change merge
right, attempting to hide ahead of another motorist. Trooper Niles got behind the Cadillac and initiated a traffic stop. When
Trooper Niles activated his emergency lights, Reyli Ortiz (Driver), turned off all the vehicle lights to avoid detection and sped
away.
During the pursuit speeds reached 140mph with moderate traffic and construction workers present. Mr. Ortiz drove around
innocent motorist at dangerous speeds and occasionally drove on the shoulder. Mr. Ortiz drove in a reckless manner without
headlights at extreme speeds which created a substantial risk to the public. Mr. Ortiz crashed into a cable barrier near the 25
mile marker and came to rest in the median.
All occupants were taken into custody and did not have any injuries. Paramedics responded to assess all occupants.
The two passengers advised they were asking Mr. Ortiz
to pullover and let them out however he continued to flee without regard to their life. It was determined no charges would be
filed on the passengers. They were transported to the Ward exit where arrangements were made for them to be picked up.
Approximately 50ft of cable barrier was damaged because of the impact.
Mr. Ortiz said his reason for running was he had a previous dui charge and no driver's license.
Mr. Ortiz was transported to the Lonoke County Sheriff's Office and released into their custody for booking.
