There are all sorts of reasons why special bonds form between two people. They might be family, close friends, or simply two strangers who experienced an extraordinary moment together.

When one Marine, who goes by the name SweepTheLegsJohnny on Imgur, was deployed for his third tour overseas in Afghanistan, he was paired with a very special partner: a highly trained Labrador retriever. The two were tasked with finding and disabling improvised explosive devices intended to kill American troops.

When his tour ended, the Marine returned home and the pair was split up. Still, he couldn’t stop thinking about his canine friend. He made it his mission to track the pup down, but he had no idea if his efforts would prove successful…
