Meet the chef who has perfected the cheesesteak in São Paulo

we're nearly at the 24-hour Mark as we count down to the eagle season opener tomorrow night the birds of course are in Brazil for their first game taking on the Green Bay Packers they landed yesterday and today they had a practice in the arena where the game will take place in Sal Paulo Brian TAF is there live now and Brian you had a chance to go inside that Stadium today as well huh yeah we sure did Rick and it was spectacular the music coming to a crescendo here tonight as does the excitement leading up to that big game right now the sound check is underway for Brazilian pop sensation Anita who will be the halftime act here uh during the game tomorrow night really takes on the feel of a Super Bowl here in sou Paulo right now Corinthian Stadium undergoing a total transformation take a look at this as you mentioned we were invited inside given early access to the field earlier today to get a look at preparations underway inside as they convert what is typically a soccer stadium into the Eagles home field yes despite the distance nearly 5,000 Mi our team is the home team tomorrow night so Corinthians is a washing Eagles logos and yes it looks great players also got a chance to take the field for their test drive today the action cam right there on the sideline is the whole team got in some stretching and some final run throughs before what is not just the first NFL game ever played in South America but also the first game of their season I had a chance to ask head coach Nick sir today his thoughts about what's Happening Here wonder if you can reflect you reflected on the Friday Night Lights mentality wonder if you can offer any Reflections that you may have personally or the players may have individually on the opportunity to represent the brand to represent the NFL the Eagles and the City of Philadelphia in front of this audience that's never seen an NFL game before I've never been a part of it like my 134 whatever many years I've been in the NFL I've never been to an international game so uh this is this is the first for me so but again no we're here to do a job and and try to keep everything as normal as possible um but excited to to play in front of these fans and the game that I love so much that that that gives me goosebumps to think about the the Friday Night Lights to be able to experience that uh and and for and for people all over the world to be able to experience that to me it's it's the best game it's the best team sport there is well as the coach expressed there this really is about exch changing a beloved aspect of American culture with an audience in Brazil they hope is receptive to it but to that point we met one Brazilian here this week who is already doing that albe it was something with a kind of a different flavor than [Music] football my name is Carlos Carlos Eduardo I'm a 41 years old I'm a chef a professional chef and I'm now running a shop a cheese Steck shop yes Carlos Eduardo is how Sal Pao knows the flavor of Philadelphia and by the looks of the midweek crowd here they love it as much as he does no that's fine that's great Carlos's love affair with a sandwich that now supports his family dates back more than a decade then a young Chef cutting his chops in American kitchens he had what you could call an aha moment the first time I had a cheese steak it was with my friends after work and uh at the first time I fell in love with B the sandwich deciding right then and there what his future would be when I go back to Brazil I want to go back and open a cheese steak shop to bring this great sandwich to all the Brazilians but to do it right even with an audience that didn't quite know it Carlos knew it had to be real so since then I've been to Philly more than 10 times just to try cheese steaks this place is the result a slice of Brewery town in Brazil South Philly and South H and it's not just a gimmick in a city teaming with Rich and complex Cuisine he's drawn to how a simple sandwich with simple ingredients like bread cheese and meat can turn out to be so special that's what I fell in love about this sandwich maybe he knew they would the first time he tasted one but Brazilians seem to agree yeah Friday we are already fully booked wow serving up a taste of our home as sou poo serves up a heaping portion of passion to those who've come from so far away for a taste of their Town well talk about things that make you feel like you're home right now a whole lot of Eagles fans are absolutely living it up they're holding a pep rally in downtown South poo not far from
